  • Overclocking on EP43-UD3L

    Firstly, my specs
    EP43-UD3L
    Pentium Dualcore E6300 @ 3.15ghz(OC'd from 2.8 stock)
    4GB Corsair DDR2-800mhz
    Radeon HD 5850

This is my first build and overclock so I'm learning a lot as I go. Mostly I just want advice to make sure I'm not setting something wrong that can cause long term damage. I've read the guide stickied and it was a lot of help even though my mobo varies a bit from it. I'd like to get to 3.5ghz on a aftermarket cooler, that I already have installed, without doing any long term damage.

FSB is currently at 300mhz*10.5 and 1.3V

I'd like advice on how to set the voltages for the CPU and RAM in MIT because I read that the auto can pull too much and cause damage to the RAM and CPU. If there's a way to pull the settings out of the BIOS to show you, that would be helpful although I could take pictures if needed.

    Re: Overclocking on EP43-UD3L

Read this post, post the info requested in 1-4.
You can fill the template by picures taken or print it if you have a printer and fill it by hand.
Voltages for ram are usually +- as specified by manufacturer.
CPU up to intel specs 1.3625v is nothing to worry about, then you make your own limits.
memtest86+, Prime95/Orthos, OCCT, and IBT(IntelBurnTest) are usually used to test for stability and to determine optimal settings.

      My RAM is TWIN2X4096-6400C5

Welcome to Corsair :: XMS2 Product Information

In the BIOS settings, I didn't get the other advanced settings for the RAM in Channel A and B, I can go back and get those if it's important.

        Re: Overclocking on EP43-UD3L

Set Performance Enhance to standard while you OC the CPU you can try change it back to turbo when you're done.
CPU Reference should be left auto unless you intend to tweak it.
Are CPU Vcore/Termination and MCH Core set manually or auto?
Are standard timing auto? Usually they scale with FSB if not set manually (which MemSet shows they are not).
Currently memory multiplier is 3.00A, you may need to change it when you increase FSB to 2.40B or 2.50A(or any of the other 2.xx mulripliers that work with best performance results) to keep it around DDR-800.

          Re: Overclocking on EP43-UD3L

I went ahead and changed Performance Enchance and CPU reference to what you suggested.
Vcore was set to 1.3000V even though it shows 1.28750V. Termination was set auto at 1.2V. MCH core, ICH I/O and DRAM were all set normal instead of auto.
All my memory settings are set to auto.
