I am putting together a system with this board and a phenom II x620 for a friend am and using (attempting) a Antec SL350 SmartBlue PSU that he had to cut costs. This PSU has a 20pin atx connector and the board has the 24 pin. The manual states that "The main power connector is compatible with power supplies with 2x10 power connectors".
The 20 pin will plug in correctly leaving the 4 open pins not in use. When I power on the system it turns on and the hd and cd rom drives flash like a normal boot. The problem is that I get not video out at all, ever, on the on-board graphics.
I understand in a perfect world he should sport the extra $40-$50 for a baseline decent PSU, but this older Antec should do the trick. Because of the nature of this inexpensive board there is no speaker to indicate errors. I guess that will be my next step, or I might try putting my graphics card in the pcie slot to try that.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
