  • GA-8SIMLH Rev 3.2 Bios update went wrong

    Hello,
I've been using Gigabyte products (Mainly mainboards) for many years and been happy with the performance and durability.
I've got a not new PC today with the mainboard Gigabyte GA-8SIMLH (Rev 3.2)
The first thing I wanted to do after installing the OS was update the bios. So I've downloaded the F12 bios from here
    GA-8SIMLH (Rev 3.x) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS
And downloaded the @BIOS utility here
    GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Utility
I've selected the .F12 file and it has started the update with a message that screen may flash a few times during the update. Then PC got restarted (without any message in advance) and now it's writting something about the award bios checksum error and bootblock message.
I've tried to create a DOS boot floppy disk and copy the Bios files to it and replace the autoexec.bat file, The floppy disk is getting loaded but stops on the "flash893 8simlh.f12" line. There's no error message or something, It just write this line and stops.
Is there some way to recover this PC?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Please remember to "Load Optimize Defaults" (in the BIOS Setup) after updating new BIOS.

After you update BIOS by @BIOS and after system reboots, please go to BIOS menu to load fail-safe default setting to complete the whole BIOS updating procedure.
Normally the system redetects all devices after BIOS has been upgraded. Therefore, we highly recommend you to reload the BIOS default settings after BIOS has been upgraded.

Press Del on your keyboard to enter BIOS menu after system reboots. Use arrow buttons to highlight BIOS Fail-Safe Defaults item and press Enter.

      Hello,
Thanks for your quick response, But it seems to be impossible to enter the bios setup. It's writing something about the bios bootblock and asking to enter the boot floppy disk.
Something similar to the problem described in the following URL:
Award 6.0 BIOS - BootBlock Recovery
I've followed the "Boot diskette creating instruction" but it won't past the autoexec.bat. It won't run the bios update utility.
      Maybe I've missed something.

you should never use @bios to flash bios with, its very unstable, always use q-flash and a usb stick in fat32,you may have bricked the motherboard and will need new bios chip,pm lsdmeasap he will know how to revive a bricked board, thats if its recoverable
