  • Question about gigabyte bios flash

Hi there, I guess i put this in the right section? Anyway, I'm getting ready to get the Gigabyte P55A UD4P. If i need to flash the bios, can this be done with new empty hard drive? Also, when using a usb stick, can i format it and install the gigabyte bios on it with my current system ? I guess formatting the usb stick fat 32 has nothing to do with what hard drive file system i use , correct. What size usb stick to get?....thank you very much guys!......

Re: Question about gigabyte bios flash

Using a USB stick is an easy way to go. I would try first without formatting it, most come in the right format. I have an old 64 MB stick that has a number of BIOS updates on it. The P55 updates tend to be a little over 2 MBs each.

Read the following thread, especially the first post, but note that you do not have to go to the trouble of making your USB stick bootable, with the USB drive plugged in simply boot, get into BIOS and then open QFlash: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios...h-guide-27576/

Re: Question about gigabyte bios flash

Yes. The BIOS doesn't care whether an OS is installed. For that matter, if you're using a USB stick BIOS doesn't care about the harddrive either.
