Re: Question concerning my RAM and Q8200

This is a bit old version of MemSet could just be a glitch in the software, SPD shows DDR2 correctly.
Try the newr version 2.1 from http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/late...30/#post284762

Re: Question concerning my RAM and Q8200

Ok, I'm having another problem now. I recently put a 120mm fan pulling air to the ram and nb so they wouldn't overheat. I was ocing up to 3.1 ghz with dram at 2.2v, ram prime and got an error so I went back to bios and loosened the timings a lil bit to see if that would help and then went and tried to log in again. My comp froze right after I hit the enter button to login. I restarted, loosened more, and tried again and it still didn't work. I then went back and set everything back to stock and when I tried to login, it froze when desktop was loading. I can go to safe mode but I can't load windows normally. I was googling this problem and ppl said to virus check (I installed 2 programs, everest and memset 4.1) on my mac and transferred it to my pc via usb earlier today (highly doubt it's that) but I'll test it anyways. I'm going to run memtest again to see if it's the ram acting up. Any other ideas would be helpful =]

you wanna be carefull that a blue screen or a freeze hasnt corrupted any windows files, leave pc off for few minutes and try,if you do manage to boot into windows do a system restore,or try the win disk and do start up repair

Re: Question concerning my RAM and Q8200

I remember doing a startup repair when I restarted the computer after a login freeze. It prompted me to do it before logging in. I've done it twice already and it's passed 100% clean. Is that the same as the one you're talking about?

Haha alright thanks. Well I just have to wait for memtest then. I don't see why I can't login on stock settings unless its hardware failure

have you cleared cmos then tried?? make a note of current oc settings first tho, leaving it to rest for few minutes before booting pc usually fixes it,its probably ram settings that it hangs at start up

Re: Question concerning my RAM and Q8200

I had to do a few system repairs like that last year.It was going too far too fast that caused it.
                            once your system is back.

                            Go slowly .
Hold the cpu speed at standard use the multiplier ,2.40 i think it will be initally.
Then move along from there ,stress out only the memory in 5 mhz stages or up to 10 mhz,not more.
Find your memory limit using a multiplier other than 2:00.2.4 or maybe even 2.6
Once you have a feel for that ,you can say to yourself :well once i start using the 2:00 multiplier,I can say xxxmhz is my memory limit when only the memory is stressed,so with cpu mch and memory stressed the memory may not run as fast so ill see what i can get.

Cleaned my registry, computer booted up fine, desktop showed and files loaded then froze. Well, it helped a little =] I'm leaving my computer off tonight. Still trying to find out whats wrong.

Ok, so my system is working again with a new OS. Starting my cpu oc now because I'm done with my gpu. Working up the FSB. I might need some help with the advanced subtimings when I get there and the voltages. Those 2 things still seem to confuse me.
