  • First build, ep45-ud3p v1.6

Came here to learn - got depressed!
    - First build components:
    Lian-Li B25f
    ga-ep45-ud3p v1.6
    E8200
Galaxy 9500gt 512 2x dvi (dual monitors - little gaming)
    Caviar black 500G
    Win7/64

Goal - learn about working with computer and overclocking. Build better, faster more capable 32n intel in a year.

    Questions:
    1) What type/brand of 2x2g memory?

I am at a stumbling block on memory to purchase and am loosing confidence as it appears that memory is one of the most volatile (and now expensive$$) elements of a computer build. Furthermore, it seems nothing works with this board without open heart surgery or the luck of a lottery winner. So much conflicting information on brand, speed, latency, voltage and compatibility.

    2) Do I start over and wait 6 mo to build 32nm Intel?
It seems the very mobo heralded as one of the most stable and easiest to work on (ep45-ud3p v1.6) is rife with problems. All the reviews suggest overclocking this board and the e8000 processors is "so easy a caveman could do it" but this forum makes it seem like a combination of quantum physics and russian roulette!

Please advise - I am an old hotrodder and love to build and modify things but I don't want to throw good money after bad...

    Thank you

For someone new to building computers you can't go wrong. This Memory is plug and play.My mobo reconized all 8GB's right away.I'm not saying it's the best memory - But it's been ROCK SOLID for me.It work's good with the EP45-UD3P.Glad to help out an "Old Hotrodder".That use to be my passion to.

Thanks for the quick and thoughtful response.
      This is good news.
I have seen this memory recommended more than once and as your configuration is an upgraded variant of mine, this bodes well for my application. I was hoping to take advantage of the speedier capabilities of the board, so this theoretically being 1066 vs 800 sounds good.
BTW - do you know if this memory has EEP and did you notice whether your board took advantage of it?
Oh, I enjoyed seeing the e8600 and Raptors in your profile!
