  • GA-EP45-UD3P Getting 8GB Stable

Motherboard: GA-EP45-UD3P (Rev 1.6, BIOS FD)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
    RAM: OCZ DDR2800 Gold
    Graphics: CrossfireX HIS Radeon HD4890
    Power Supply: Antec 750W

I was able to get 24h Prime95 blend test stable with 4GB and the following settings (this is not tweaked, it actually ended up being the first 4GB setup I tested):

However, I'd really like to be able to use all 8GB, the following is a table of test settings I've run (changes from the previous setup are bold and red, the top two rows are tests/time before failure). I did remove the Gigabyte badge and put a fan on the MCH. I have no idea where to go from here.

If your running memory speed at 800mhz with 2.40B SMM, you might want to try increasing the drive strength to 1066mhz. Also I noticed your cpu termination is at 1.20v, you might want to increase 1.22v-1.30v. You might also try dropping your mch core down from 1.34v.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried setting the driving strength to 1066 and tested every combination of MCH and CPU termination voltage between 1.2 and 1.3 (all 36 of them) and all of them failed within a few minutes, if not on the first test.

Side note: When are they gonna update the random question about the current year?

Are 4GB stable when installed in the other 2 slots?

The other two slots aren't outright defective if that's what you're getting at. All 8GB has passed MemTest86+ with no errors for 12h, and each stick individually passed an hour of test #7 at default SPD settings. However, I am currently P95 blend testing the 4GB from the first post in the other two slots, just to be certain. I'll post a follow-up tomorrow evening.

            Re: GA-EP45-UD3P Getting 8GB Stable

For the sake of preventing confusion, I'm gonna call the RAM from the first post set 1, and the other 2x2GB set 2. Set 1 was 24h P95 blend stable in the yellow slots and 14h stable in the red. I ended it early to check set 2. Set 2 isn't even 10min stable in the yellow or red slots with the same settings as set 1. So it seems that, despite passing MemTest, I got a bad set of sticks. I think I'm just going to return them and go for a bigger overclock with 4GB. I definitely should have done this testing before. Thanks for the help guys, sorry I wasn't more thorough before posting this thread.
