Gigabyte X58-UD5 4GB out 6GB ram Usable

    Gigabyte X58-UD5 4GB out 6GB ram Usable

    Hi,

    Bought a Gigabyte X58-UD5 and Patriot Viper DDR3 3x2GB Ram

    When starting the PC the BIOS tells me I got 4GB installed.

    Windows 7 64bit shows 6GB installed but 4GB usable.

    I have the ram currently in slow 1,3,5 and when sitting Ram in slot 1,3 I get 4GB installed and 2 usable.

    I also tried installing the ram in slot 3,5 and it gives me my full 4GB.

    I tried all 3 Ram sticks in slot 3,5 and they all seem fine. It must be slot 1.

    When all 6GB are installed, 2GB seemed to be reserved for Hardware.

    My mate told me to turn of Memory remapping, but could not find this.

    the way to test is test with one stick in one slot at a time start with first from cpu socket and then try each slot along(white slots),it should boot with one stick in any white slot,if not then you have a faulty ram slot white slot

      It does seem like I have a faulty Ram slot......

      I tried all three sticks in slot 1

      It did not boot once.......I tried all 3 sticks in slot 3 and 5 (white slot) and it booted 6 times !

        yeah just rma the board,the same thing happened to me it should take 2-3weeks turn around to fix it

            test your rams in memtest and your timings in bios then look what happend in mem test for errors another tip look if there is pin bents in cpu socket

              The only time I get that problem is when I push my ram way too hard. When it's running at stable or really close to stable settings, I don't get that
