    Re: GA-MA785GMY-UD2H No Power

You may be getting a short from the case Or the case may be in the way for you to see all the inserion pins. Sometimes that 24 pin connection is misaligned with the pins. Sometimes it, WELL it can be many things causing a short. When you have a no P.O.S.T. You will want to remove the motherboard from the case and perform a P.O.S.T. bench test to it.
    Instructions as follows.
Please follow the following simple steps.
    1. Remove the motherboard from the case and any trays or chassies.
    2. Place the motherboard on top of the cardboard box (you can use the motherboard box)
    3. Install a good CPU, CPU fan, good Memory, a good Power supply plugs (plug the 1 X 20 pin or 1 X 24pin and 1 X 4 or 2 X 8 pin from the power supply unit) and a good working video card.
    4. Hook the monitor to the video card and be sure the monitor is switched on.
    5. Install the front panel wires as your motherboard manual suggest negative side as white wires. Turn on the system board by using the case "Power on" switch.
    6. If the system fails to POST, check the components' insertion again to ensure they are all connected properly. If still no P.O.S.T.
Then RMA. This may save you some time and S&H charges if it is a short from the case. This is a known fix and happens at times.
You will also want to remove the heatsink and fan and cpu clean all the old thermal paste or compound off and double-check the pins. Then carefully reinstall to be sure it is seated well. This is best if performed outside of the case also. Then remove the memory and try installing it in the white slots. Then the blue slots. see if it works in 1&2 or 3&4 Sometimes this is the issue.
Here is a PDF file of your motherboard manual. It will take time to download it.---->http://download.gigabyte.ru/manual/m...-ud(s)2h_e.pdf

      Re: GA-MA785GMY-UD2H No Power

Thank you for your prompt reply..

Prior to removing all components again I decided to give it one last attempt (removed all chasis f/p pins and reconnected them, removed ram and reinserted it unplugged sata cables and reinserted, unplugged chasis usb and reconnected, unplugged chasis i394 and reconnected)...... AND the system appears to be functioning......

I say appears as my monitor was receiving no video signal from the onboard video on the m/b - and so i cannot verify full functionality, but no POST.. It should be noted I tried both dvi and vga to no avail.

With that in mind, I removed the system from the chasis anyway, as I was still unsure if this was a potential source of the problem. Again no video, yet appears to be running fine.

What should I attempt now, as this may not require RMA.

      Thanks again, greatly appreciated.

        Re: GA-MA785GMY-UD2H No Power

No P.O.S.T. out of case could be the cpu, memory, graphics (which is onboard), power, and motherboard. You must have it diagnosed or diagnose it yourself which may require for you to swap parts if you have extra parts. If not take it to a computer repair shop and find out what they determine is bad and R&R and RMA that or those parts.
