    Hi All,

First time over-clocker here. Been reading up and found some settings that seemed to work for me:

I was able to run Prime 95 for about 8 hours stable when the comp stopped responding, I was recording the temps and the highest Cores (0+1) were at 59 and would max at 60. I am wondering if you have any advice.

CPU-Z reports a lower voltage. Anyone have any help for me?

Load optimized defaults and reapply your settings.

Please read this post, add system specs to your forun signature as descibed, and post the additional screen captures requested.

DRAM Voltage is 0.1v below it's min spec voltage, MCH Core may need to be raised 1.2-1.32v, check target voltage in EasyTune when on auto.
Vcore might be too low as well, VID is 1.3v according to CoreTemp.

What CPU and case cooling you have.

Added to sig. I will try some of this when I get home.

      Cases cooling I have 5x 120MM fans...

1 front (in) for cold air
2 side - 1 (in) above video card - 1 (out) below video card to take out warm air
      2 top - Out
1 back - Out (right by the cpu cooler

Re: GA-EP45-UD3R Q6600 Overclock (System Stops responding)

Trying now. I raised the RAM to 2.1. Raised VCORE to 1.3625. Changed MCH to 1.26

CPUZ is still showing Core Voltage at 1.280...what is the reason for that?

Re: GA-EP45-UD3R Q6600 Overclock (System Stops responding)

There will always be a difference between setting and actual applied Vcore.
vdrop the difference between settings and idle voltage, and vdroop the difference between idle and load voltage. Up to 0.1v difference is normal.
Is 1.28v for idle or load? For the same voltage settings I get 1.31v idle and 1.28v load.

Re: GA-EP45-UD3R Q6600 Overclock (System Stops responding)

Right now it is at 1.280V at full load. I have Prime running now...max temp so far is 61 and holding...it did pop up to high of 63 for a few seconds according to Core Temp.

I think I have the cpu cooler installed wrong...I have the rear case fan and the CPU heatsink fan right next to each other...if I read right the fan on the heatsink is supposed to blow onto the fins...so I think the fans are battling for air...

I am going to test this setup for 12 hours and see...I have to see if I still have some AS5 and place the heatsink properly.

Here is the new screenshot. At 12 hours stable. Temps have hit 67 degrees for a few minutes.

Like I said before I am going to turn the heatsink around...so I won't have to fight the other fan.

Any other advice? I am using AS5 for the thermal paste. Sorry pic looks weird as it is a screenshot of remote desktop.

This cooler is a bit old might not be up to the task of cooling OCed quad.

Well I am going to re-mount the heatsink tonight and turn it around and re-apply AS5. I will stress it again (I know my temps will be higher until after burn-in) then I will test to see what kind of results I have.

If that doesn't work I will a new cooler....don't have too much room in there though...that cooler is pretty good sized.

So I remounted the cpu cooler. I tried the line method for AS5 (how arctic silver recommends for a Quad). So now it is not facing the exhaust fan. From what I can tell so far...at BIOS I am about 4 degrees cooler (just sitting in bios).

I have booted up prime 95 and I am going to test for a bit to see if I get higher temps than before.

I appreciate the help so far...it is greatly appreciated.

After an hour of torture test (Large FFTs) I reach 59 degrees for max. Mins seemed to have dropped too. Here is the screenshot.

7c not bad at all, may be enough to get 3.3-3.4GHz, that is if ou want to.
Id Fine CPU Clock Ratio available for this CPU?

It shows as an option in the BIOS...what does that do? I have been running for over 12 hours now for large FFT and I never hit above 62. I also believe I can step down the voltage 1 step...which would reduce heat...but I am going to wait to check that out.

Thanks for the help so far Chike...

From what I have read that is only available on 45nm CPU's I have a 65nm.
