  • EX58-UD5 o\c to 3.6Ghz going to 3.8-4.0Ghz Help needed

    hi,
After allot of reading i have decided to buy the TRUE (thermal right ultra extreem) and OC my rig. I have a i7 920 CPU, EX58-UD5 F9m, crosair 1600mhz cm3x21600c8 running Raid 0 on 2 x 160gb WD RAID0 READY HD,
I'v disabled Jmicron on my BIOS (having problems with it - brakes the Raid0 array all the time)

My goal is: I want to get to 3.8-4.0 GHZ stable and not too hot.(currently running @ 40C-41C). I need comments on my settings and recommendations for my goals :)

This is my current BIOS settings -HOW DO I SAVE THE BIOS SETTINGS SO I CAN POST THEM HERE ? (Solved)
(I just copied someone else settings and fixed it to mine)

I was about to post the same question, I assume viewing it from windows would simplify things. Either Win7 or XP, I can't get easy tune to work in win7 64 ultimate, any suggestions.

I have it working on Windows 7 64bit with no problems at all !

you can d/l ET6 directly from Gigabyte site:
Easy Tune6 (Please remove your current EasyTune6 or earlier, and GWUM Tools before install this.)
Note: Support Intel P55/X58/P45/P43/G45/G43/G41 series and AMD Ultra Durable 3 series MB.
      O.S. :

      Good luck

I have just stumbled LSD's post regarding BIOS setting issue, looks like there isn't a hightech solution for this, but simply a manual work Thank LSD.

        The link to LSD's post:

follow the link for easytune as some countries websites it doesnt work from

            GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - Utility

i have no problems with easytune and win7,also i would update the chipset drivers from the same site above

              Thanks Wazza:

But the configuration you proposed doesn't work, I used it before but gave it a shot again and the system doesn't post.

              My memory is: Crosair XMS3 TR3X6G1600C8 Timing 8.8.8.24 @ 1.65v

so i did a few checking with the configuration you gave me it is most surely a memory barrier since lowering the speed of the memory and the UNCORE - the system posted.

              1. my memory is 1600mhz and in order to get there when BCLK is 180 I need a x9 multiplication and the only options i have are x8 and x10 (witch takes me up to 1800mhz) I am not sure my memory can support that high speed ?? when using x8 my UNCORE is set to x2+1 = 3060. and when using x10 my UNCORE is set to x2+1 = 3780.

another problem with the memory voltage there isn't 1.650v only 1.640 or 1.660 ... so i picked 1.660 and 1.640 and no change (no post)

              2. you are not saying anything about "load line calibration" should i enable or not ?

              3. what is "Profile DDR Voltage" and "Profile GPI Voltage" when X.M.P is set to profile1 this settings are on 1.65v and 1.35v when disabled its on 1.5v and 1.4v ?? (I think i know the answer to this question but i am just making sure)

              4. one big question here, when "Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech" is enabled the multiplication is supposed to be on x21, hence 3.8GHZ but NO it still shows x20 and while posting or in windows it still shows 20 x 180 = 3.6 GHz ??

              5. What about the PCIE speed I read here and in allot of places that with i7 technology, it is recommanded to raise the default 100 higher - any suggestions ?

so i am stuck on 3.6GHz and 1440mhz memory

              What should I do ?

1: Put the mem multiplier to 8x, the uncore multiplier to 17x or 18x (18x usually works best for me). You can use 1.64 or 1.66, it wont matter much, I'd use the lowest possible. Im sure you can run it lower than that as well, most 1600mhz chips dont actually need the full 1.65v to run at specs.
2: I'd use loadline calibration as the vdroop is really significant with Gigabyte boards.
3: I'd stay away from XMP profiles and just set everything manually instead. The specs of your sticks should be 8-8-8-24 if im not mistaken, you might need around 1.3v qpi and 1.6 - 1.66v vdimm for that. Or maybe less.
4: Not 100% sure about this one, but on some bios versions you might be able to set 21x multiplier instead of using 20x multi + turbo
5: You probably dont need pci-e higher than 100mhz for a 3.8-4ghz clock. Certainly not more than 101mhz

4: Not 100% sure about this one, but on some bios versions you might be able to set 21x multiplier instead of using 20x multi + turbo
5: You probably dont need pci-e higher than 100mhz for a 3.8-4ghz clock. Certainly not more than 101mhz
ok i dont know the xmp settings as my ram doesnt support it,but its advised to disable it and set ram manually, for a 3.8ghz clock and 1600mhz ram just set a lower multiplier and higher bclk something like 19x200 or 18x210 i cant remember the exact combo but just play around till it shows 3.8ghz and 1600mhz ram it will be 1596mhz i think,if you look in easytune it should display the 21xmulti as it wont show you in the bios, all turbo is an extra 1x cpu multi, you shouldnt need llc enabled only at very high clocks 4ghz+,try with those settings that didnt post but with system performance enhance on standard and qpi voltage on 1.34000

Re: EX58-UD5 o\c to 3.6Ghz going to 3.8-4.0Ghz Help needed

@ Wims: Thank you for the quick response
                    1. As You can see i have my settings set to exactly that (mem is on 8 x
                    180 = 1440mhz) and the UNCORE is set to 17 x 180 = 3060) memory
voltage is on 1.64v, system is stable and not worm at all !

                    2. Yes i figure load line wont hurt :)

                    3. you are not mistaken it is 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65v - I have it set manually.
QPI is set to 1.3v, but what is VDIMM ? if its DRAM voltage then i am on
                    1.64v.

                    4. I have the Turbo Enabled, and what do you mean on some MB's ? we
have the same MB no ? it should be the same.

                    5. That's what i thought about the PCIE but some say that it's a different
story with i7 ? can we have a ruling on this subject ?

So how do you think I can get to 3.8ghz \ 4.0ghz ?

@ Wazza300: Thanks again for the response

                      1. Got your advice about the XMP, I disabled it and have my timing set
                      manually (8.8.8.24).

                      2. What about the multiplication issue, if the turbo enhances the
multiplication to x21, I don't see it in the post. you say that using ET6 i
would see it, but ET6 shows it's still on x20 :( what am i doing wrong ?

                      3. "you shouldnt need llc enabled" <<--- what is it ?

                      4. you posted a setting in your previous post, is that what you are using
for 3.8ghz ? couldn't understand, your memory speed is 1800mhz or
1600mhz? mine is 1600mhz so x10 is taking me to 1800mhz and that
                      OCs the memory...

                      Thanks

your mb isnt faulty it happens sometimes maybe a bios reflash will cure it,its not important just set bclk to 190 to compensate, llc is a feature that stops the voltage from drooping when the computers under extreme load causing bsod thats all it does you can enable it if you want but personally i dont use it as i dont need it @3.8ghz....are you clocked to 3.8 now? are you stable and what temps are you getting?
