    Re: EX58-UD5 Ram Issues

OK Well Short of you giving us more information to work with, which you may have in another thread, can I suggest that you Download and run Memtest86+ V4.0 Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and boot that up. Now I assume you have 2 X 2 GB of Ram. Try re-seating it again, and see what the BIOS says is installed or just boot to the memtest disk and it will tell you whats installed. Depending on what OS you are using it will display different values for the amount of ram installed. If you have the probelm from the POST and its not showing you the correct amount then Try testing each stick individually in slot 1 and running memtest on it for at least 6 passes just to be sure. If you havent already you should also set your memory voltage (vdimm) to the correct setting for your ram. Please post full system specs so that we can help more.

EDIT: I really dont know why you created a new thread when you have another one with replies?? Please post your FULL system specifications.

          Re: EX58-UD5 Ram Issues

if its seeing 2gb then 4gb its either a faulty ram module or a faulty ram socket, did you test each stick in each white slot to see if you have a dead ram module? test as in plug one stick into each white slot and try and boot up it will boot into windows if its all ok

            Re: EX58-UD5 Ram Issues

Okay, i tested each ram stick in every white slot. Blue slots it just didnt want to load. idk why. however, they each worked in every ram slot. Now i am running 4GB. Im just confused to why it will vary from 2-4GB when it wants to. sometimes a quick restart fixes it.

              Re: EX58-UD5 Ram Issues

it wont boot from the blue slots, any power saving features? it shouldnt go from 4gb then 2gb it should display all installed memory all the time.i once had a faulty memory slot and it would read 6gb in windows but 4 in bios so i would keep your eye on it

i dont think its power saving in win7 thats causing it,you can have balanced/high performance and power saver if its saying 4gb(2gb) usable it seems like a faulty ram slot to me idk for sure esp if you say its booting into windows from each slot, but it could be intermittant i mean after you disturbed it it saw 4gb again now its gone back to seeing 2 so it could be the slot,is it still under warranty?

                          Re: EX58-UD5 Ram Issues

Well after seeing that, it makes me think it could be a Windows Software thing. Or a configuration in BIOS maybe. Get an old HDD and get a copy of Vista 64bit and see what it says? What does it say under the system information when you just right click on Computer and go to properties? How much ram does it say you have installed there. Please download Memtest86+ and burn the ISO to a disk and run it. It will tell you how much ram there is installed and it will test it all.
