Got it! Lsd...Thanks,the corrected command line worked. Did you get my settings for the 4.0Ghz. I was using from the template in the 4th post of this thread? Look Here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/newb...le-help-34011/

Great to see you got it flashed. Now, are you using the same settings as before with that BIOS? Are they stable now, like before, or are you unsure of how stable you were before?

Please post your current settings here, I hate to jump to another thread really as they may not contain your exact full settings. Sorry to be a pain, but I need to be sure since you are having issues. And please don't copy them from that thread, go in your BIOS and get your exact settings please.

Re: Cleared CMOS...do I need to reinstall Chipset for X58 Extreme? Where is it?

So you need the settings that I was using for my 4.0Ghz setup? I went back to stock for now. Havent tried the Overclock settings again. I am at the stock settings for the EX58 Extreme using the Intel i7 920. I would like to start fresh with a new batch of settings to get me to 4.0Ghz again. What I kept on saying though is that I was using the settings in the template you set up for me to get to 4.0Ghz that is located in that post. Unless thats not how this works. You ask me for my settings and right now I am back to stock Optimized Defaults in the BIOS and at the stock speed of 2.66Ghz until I can get this figured out. I think though that I might be misunderstanding the way you Overclock using the settings in the BIOS and how I am supposed to use the template. If the template says set the BClk to 200 thats what I set it at or the CPU clock ratio at 20x thats what I do. I was just asking you to check that template in the other thread. Unless thats just a test template and not used to actually set up the BIOS.Ignore the numbers in there? Just trying to understand. Thanks

Ya, go ahead and try what he suggests. Then if you have luck, or not, give me the settings you are eventually using and I will advise back for 4Ghz or more (let me know if you want 4.2)

How to use the templates is explained at the very top of the page of templates, did you miss that or are you still unsure of something? If so let me know

Or, if you would just like me to give you some settings to start trying let me know.

Will give it a try. Here is my memory type: 6GB (3x2048MB) T/C Kit PN - OCZ3G1600LV6GK Should I be using 8-8-8-24 for my CAS,tRCD,tRP and tRAS? Also DRAM should be at 1.64v and QPI link speed at 1.3. I wonder about this setting. Your not actually setting the QPI speed your setting the Ration correct? The speed figure is below the Ration figure, correct?

yes use those ram volts and timings, for ram volt set to 1.66 to get 1.64,leave qpi speed on auto or 36x and uncore will be twice the ram multi...just set qpi voltage to 1.30000

Thanks for all the help! So for the 3.8ghz you do nothing with the BCLK Freq. or the CPU clock ratio? Or even EIST or Uncore Freq. Load line Calib. ? System Mem Multi=8X?

those settings for 3.8ghz i gave you were with c1e enabled in the bios and cpu voltage on the normal setting/turbo/hyper threading enabled,i hit 65c prime95 on the hottest core with those settings yes system performance on standard...if you dont want to run with c1e enabled then disable it and set cpu voltage to 1.12500...but it will run cooler with it enabled and cpu volt on normal

Not trying to be difficult here but what made you think I wanted to disable the C1E? Even with the settings of 180x20 it is only yielding 3.6Ghz. Not to drag you guys thru this anymore this is more involved than I am thinking here. To me the 3.8ghz in you Sig.doesnt explain everything to this Newby.. There are more settings that need to be addressed for 3.8ghz that arent covered in your Sig. but I appreciate the help.

on some mb's the c1e feature creates an interferance sound with the audio thats why i gave you settings for enabled or disabled,it should be 3.8 with turbo enabled that bumps the multi to 21 to give you 3.8...all you have to do is leave everything enabled and on auto and just set bclk to 180,your ram timings 8-8-8-24 ram volt 1.66 cpu volt "normal" setting qpi 1.3000 system performance enhance to standard....keep turbo hyper threading enabled and c1e thats the settings i use on my board

OK this is much better. Not totally 3.8 but I will take it. Ran 4 hours of Prime95 with no errors or warnings. I forgot to set CPU Voltage to Normal, had it at Auto. I think that made and difference and also QPI to x36 and Uncore to 16 I made sure of. Would it be very tough to go to 4.0ghz from this point and keep my temps relatively safe? Again Thanks for your patience and help wazza300 and Lsdmeasap!!!!

no fairly easy to go higher i can clock to 4.3 without too much effort, you should be able to run on normal cpu voltage to reduce heat even further i can run on it for 3.8ghz
