Re: I can not create a raid 10 with the Extreme

RAID 10 with 4 1.5T drives may take a long time to initialize. Did you create the array and them try letting the machine sit there for a hour or so in the RAID ROM BIOS?

You may need to try that, and it may take much longer as well not sure.

Do you have any boot disks like ultimate boot cd or hirens? If so you could load them and see if any of the partition tools would allow you to format the disk and set it active.

The array must be set active before you can use it, you can use diskpart to do this.

I am not sure if windows 7 install disk has that or not, but likely. I know Vista install disk does, so if you have one of those you could do it with that or check windows 7 to see if it has it. This is normally for setting up SSD disks but will work fine with a normal hard drive as well.

Boot to the install CD, but choose repair computer and then command prompt on the next screen.

Then when you get to the command prompt type the following"

            1. Type Diskpart

            2. Type Select Disk 0

            3. Type List Partition

            4. Tye Create Partition Primary Align=1024 (you may leave out the align part as windows 7 will do that for you if you want)

            5. Type Active

            6. Exit you are done and the disk should now be active

Re: I can not create a raid 10 with the Extreme

You may need to read this, I don't think the above will help. There is a 2T Limit to the bootable OS partition.
              X58 mobo 2TB RAID Limit

Reviewing Storage Limits: Local File Systems

Windows and GPT FAQ: Version 1.1

So you would need to create a smaller main OS Partition or array, then use the rest of your disk space to create a second array or larger partition within your original array if you only make one
