    ROUND 2: My E6420 on UD3P

    In the process of overclocking this one but stuck at ~3.0ghz (looking for 3.4). Is stable on a quickie OCCT for a couple of hours. Here's the vitals:

    Can you do the same CPU speed with 400x7.5 or 425x7?

      Yup....I've had the CPU at 3.4 on an old IP45...just can't find the right volts/settings to get it much past 380.

      Any glaring errors???

        Your memory is rated for 4-4-4-12 at 800MHz.
        tRD = 6 or 7 should be fine.
        See if your system will boot with MCH Core = 1.05 or a bit higher.
        Include a screen-shot that displays:
        Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
        cpu-z CPU and Mainboard screens (several instances can be run at the same time)
        EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab (only the Voltage tab is needed)
        CoreTemp screen [for your cpu's VID (Voltage ID)]

          Id it yes then or no? For this board I mean.
          Is it the FSB alone, or FSB and CPU Ratio?

            Here are my settings so far. Ever since I've enabled the XMP profiles, I've been able to move up to 425FSB and 850mem. Just not stable in OCCT for more than a half hour (stable MemTest #5 and #8 for 5-8 passes each). Getting error on core #1.

              This is interesting. It did set lower CAS and tRAS, but tRC and tWR are different for EPP and JEDEC profiles, which may have made the difference.
              BTW I am a big fan of XMP.

              Run Prime95 small FFT, if it fails more vcore is probably needed.
              Check the applied vDIMM, maybe it does not get all it needs or one notch up may help it.
              Try maual CAS 5, tRAS 14/15.
              Try manual Driving Strength 800/1066 for both channels.

                Performance Level (tRD) = 15 is too high, set it to 9 or 10 for both memory channels.
                Try increasing VTT (Cpu Termination) one or possibly two steps higher to help with stability. Usually, VTT should be 0.05 - 0.10 volts lower than Cpu Vcore.

                  Just passed an hour of Prime95 smallFFT and 8 hours of OCCT-CPU by upping Vcore a notch and DRAM to 1.92 (kept using the aforementioned XMP profile)....

                  Will set tRD perf levels to 9 and restress....
