    OC GA-EP45 DS4 + E8500 + 2g x 4 Hyper x2 Kingston 1066

    Hi

    I am having issues with setting up BIOS for overclocking CPU e8500 with MB P45-DS4 with 8gigs of DDR2 1066 (4 sticks of 2gig Hyper X2)

    If anyone has been able to oc this board or have suggestions on how to with BIOS settings that they can provide that would be great.

    other spec I have a Coolmaster heatsink/fan for the CPU

    Leadtek GTX275

    2 x 500g WD Black in RAID0

    I do have a Pioneer DVD Burner 112D which is connected IDE not SATA due to its age.(Not sure if this is an issue)

    BIOS Version: F8 was standard with F7 ( There is F9 and a F10beta but I have not tried with either of those options)

    I have got my E8500 running 3.8Ghz with everything manually set to stock. I would start buy trying wuth maybe only 4gb of ram. I will get back to u tommorrow on better settings. Its way late.

      Since posting this today I have read alot of different Posts online.

      I ended up doing what you said taking 4g of RAM out, still no joy.

      I ended up getting a new version of BIOS F9

      And I also disconnected the IDE DVD Burner and then everything over clocked the CPU to 3.8 and RAM to 1066 (Changing CPU and RAM settings and upping the voltage on the RAM to 2.1 helped)

      I have since placed the other RAM back in and tested ok.

      So at this stage it looks like the IDE Optical Drives play apart at not letting the Overclock settings stick in the BIOS

        Could you describe the problem you have, what have you tried what have failed and what are the symptoms?
        Please fill your forum signature with your system specs including a link to ram(s) specs BIOS vers. and board rev.
        Meanwhile read this post for basic stock settings before OC.
