  • HWMonitor voltages wrong P55 gigabyte boards

I have installed two systems now on a P55-UD4P and one P55-UD3R. All 3 have the wrong voltages shown with HWMonitor. ET6 shows them fine. I have become dependent on HWMonitor. Anyway for those wondering, the current HWMonitor will show bad voltages on P55 boards. What other program (besides Speedfan and ET6) can I use? I will use ET6 if I have to.....
    P55-UD4P - i7860 - Patriot Inferno 120GB SSD - 1600Mhz Mushkin 7-8-7-20 - 3 WD 640GB Black

2 or 3 other systems I like to play with and a laptop

Re: HWMonitor voltages wrong P55 gigabyte boards

Oh yea, I forgot about Everest. Is there actually a "free" version. I have not used them in the past because it's so confusing with the "trials" and payed programs. I am not going to pay for something SIW will do (most of)

Everest is great don't get me wrong. I just want the best free version they have and every time I try to find it I end up with a "trial version"

I don't know but what I did is install an uninstall program like Revo uninstaller. Then when I install a trial program that has a 30 day limit or whatever length of time I can fully uninstall it with the Revo Uninstaller and it will remove it as it was never there. Then I can install it again, and remove and again and again. Ect... because I think cheap it's just a way around paying the fees.

hey, hey, hey, don't "use Google" me Lsdmeasap. That's low.

Here is Everest. .It does not even list the 12V. It MUST be something about the new sensor they are using.
Here is the "sensor type" Sensor Type ITE IT8720F + DES (ISA 290h)

Re: HWMonitor voltages wrong P55 gigabyte boards

Don#t worry about software voltage readings, they aren't anywhere near reliable anyway. If you want to know the voltages use a digital multi-meter.
But even that is kind of pointless, since the important part is not the voltage itself, but the "ripple" i.e. how much it varies, and you can't measure that, you need expensive equipment to do that.

Re: HWMonitor voltages wrong P55 gigabyte boards

Everest may just either not be up to date for P55 yet, or the 12V is not reported/picked up. I know my X58 does not report it, if it is not in the BIOS health screen you will not find it in software programs

See, here is all I get for X58 (Same Sensor) >>

PC Health Section/Easytune also only show +5V, Vcore, and Vdimm

Now, older Boards showed more but I think they only have a certain # of things each sensor can detect so they have to pick and choose between voltages and fan speeds is why.

Sorry Nate42nd about the google comment, just in my nature I guess

Thanks man, I'll use ET6 for a while. It seems to be fine. Not a big deal, but nice to have.

Good to see the comparison with the X58 there. Interesting.

Re: HWMonitor voltages wrong P55 gigabyte boards

Ya, it is just that sensor. I think they allowed more fan speeds and or voltage adjustments so they had to limit what was picked up voltage-wise for monitoring.
