O/C reset to defaults - X58 UD4P

Hi all,
I've been helped here before on numerous occasions (thanks lsdmeasap) & here I am back again! I've been running a stable o/c of 3.6 for a few months now.

I noticed this morning when I booted up that it had reset the o/c to 2.66Ghz which is the cpu's default speed. I've had no crashes recently, it simply looks like it reverted to defaults for some reason. Once in the BIOS it did show me a warning box saying that there had been a problem.

I've stress tested my o/c extensively (OCCT & Linx) and have never had any issues. Any ideas what could cause this reset? I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions as to how I can tweak my settings.

Also, I'm running BIOS version F9c (maybe F9d, cant remember) - Is there any benefit for me flashing to the most recent BIOS?

Ya, there is some new features in F10d, I just updated from F9c myself after a long run with that BIOS for memory reviews. F10d works great, if you want to update

As for settings, if you want to leave things on auto I still suggest you at least find and set your own stable Ram and QPI/Vtt voltages, auto may not get that correctly. A bump in NB voltage could help as well, not sure how the stock voltage works as I never used it myself. I always set 1.2-1.24 IOH

My mistake, the items listed below were not actually set to auto, I left [AUTO] in by mistake when I added my settings.. oops!

I think I'll try the new BIOS then, I can always revert to F9c if necessary! Looks like I need a little more IOH also - will let you know how I get on.

K, may just need a little more QPI/Vtt, try 1.2-1.28 and see if that helps as well. This is not fast memory, but you are using a higher base clock and uncore than normal so you may need a bit more QPI/vtt as well

EDIT: Pls ingore below query, I understand now....

Just a quick query, I've downloaded the BIOS file (10H) and having unzipped (with winrar) it looks like it only contains a Bin file.. '58ud4pjo.BIN'
Is this correct as the last time I updated the BIOS Im sure there were a couple of files...?
I used your Qflash guide last time, was excellent btw.

Please use F10d, F10h is a internal test BIOS and is not made for the general public. It has some things disabled and or removed so it is not suggested to be used.

As for BIOS name, they do not matter to Qflash, it can be .bin, which is what they all really are, or .F1000b, .ff1209, ect anything will be fine. Just to let you know is all, and glad you asked really, so I could advise you of the issue with F10h. Likely already to late I know, but please go ahead and flash back to F10d even if you already have flashed F10h.

Sorry, forgot. A few files are included if you download official BIOSes, those are a .bat file, a flash program, and the BIOS file. You ONLY want to put the BIOS file itself on your USB Stick to use in Qflash, otherwise it may be flashed automatically which you do not want. Put the .fxx or.bin, ect file on the USB and enter Qflash. Please disable "Keep DMI Data" and then flash as you normally would following proper BIOS flash procedure.

Nice to see I caught ya beforehand. It would not be a big deal, just wanted to let you know because I know some users hate to flash and would not want to do it twice in a day or something like that.

You would be fine anyway though, I sometimes flash 5-10 times a day doing various testing

ok, so I flashed to F10d BIOS with no issues.

I then set BIOS settings as previously set with the addition of a little more IOH as advised but the pc won't boot (just keeps restarting)..

Tried a little more CPU Vcore but that didnt work either.

Tried uncore at 12 and 13 as I was thinking that maybe my ram was the issue but no luck, the pc wouldn't boot. It boots fine with everything default and I didn't have to much time last night to play around with more settings as my 'better half' was asking me why I wasnt spending more time with our new daughter! (Can't argue with that! )

Anyway, any idea where I'm going wrong appreciated. I'd like to stick with F10d BIOS if I can...
