      i hit 70c on the hottest core to 67 on the coolest core @3.8ghz with akasa nero,i would try re-seating heatsink...dont but paste on the copper contacts underneath but apply a thin strip to the aluminium strips and see if its any better,also ive set cpu volts to normal with c1e enabled and everthing else enabled performance enhance set to standard qpi volt 1.28000 and ram 1.66 try those volt settings

            thats way too hot for 3.15ghz your cpu is voltaged too high set it on normal and qpi on 1.28000 and enable everthing you should be able to run @3.8ghz with those volts only make sure your coolers fitted correctly with enuff tmp

                Re: Gigabyte X58-UD3R i7 920 Overclock (hot?)

                here's my setup:

                Intel Core i7 920 d0 @ 4.01 GHz (191x21);
                Settings:
                QPI x36 (6876); Uncore x17 (3247);
                VCore (reported by CPU-Z): 1.344-1.36V (vdroop enabled, bios setting 1.39V)
                VTT (BIOS Setting): 1.29V
                everything else auto; ht+turbo enabled, c1e+eist disabled;

                CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper Z600 + 2 x Noctua NF-12S push-pull

                Gigabyte EX58-UD3R v1.6 FF

                Kingmax 3x2GB @ 1146 MHz (191x6) (i experience overvolt to 1.6V on automatic voltage @ 1333 (133x10) @ Stock CPU Freq , seems the default freq for these rams is 1066 MHz).. i won't risk hitting 1528 MHz (191x8) ram freq without proper ram cooling, and i also think that's not much needed..

                Temperatures:

                Windows Idle 42-52C depending on ambient temp (20-30C)
                Prime95 small fft load ~92 after a minute, then after a few more (3-4 minutes) hits max 98 and seems stable.. the lowest for longest i've kept it is 96 max @ ~20C ambient with open door (it's winter here now)

                Also, I tried lower voltages on CPU in vain, i reach prime stability only @ 1.344/1.36 (load/idle)

                I think this is a good 24/7 setting, since i'd never load the cpu as with prime in real-life apps..

                What do you think guys? (cooler re-seated to optimal setting, bios idle temps around 35-40)
                I'm also planning to stick two Coolink SWif 802's on the side case for more fresh air (the space inside is a bit used up by cables and drives)..
