12v rail reading on EX58-UD5

    12v rail reading on EX58-UD5

    I have tried two different power supplies that I know are good. My 12v reading is way low. Should I RMA my board? I have upload a pic to show you load and idle voltage readings. like I said I swapped power supplies from my other computer and the readings are the same.

    if its not causing crashes then leave it,it might be regulated as to use more when under load and less when idle

      No. Gigabyte doesn't support readings for 12v (or most other voltages) on the EX58-series :-( Just Vcore, Vmem, Vbat and +5V. I've been asking around about this (including Gigabyte support) and and while the IT8720F supports it, they've just left it out of the design.

      Same goes for proper fan speed support and fan speed readings :-/

      Most expensive motherboard I've ever I bought (EX58-EXTREME) and it doesn't even offer basic features I've been used to for the last 10 years.

      Unless the EX58a offers those features, my next mobo will be an ASUS again.

        Thank you for you response, I am glad to hear that there is nothing wrong with my board. I have tortured it since i got it, and its passed all tests. That 12v reading was really bugging me. I love this board. Its way better than all the Asus boards I have owned. I switched from Asus because there boards always have something wrong with them. I owned a M3A32-MVP which was crap, a M3N-HT deluxe that would overvolt the board ridiculously if I increased the HT. All of them had issues that Asus never addressed. Theire cusomer support is crap, and none of them would resume from sleep mode. This board blows them all out of the water. I am at 4.2 on my 920 with 1.35v, and this board runs way cooler than any asus board I owned. I will never go back to asus. Thank you Gigabyte!

          Some monitoring programs don't handle all voltages correctly. I think SpeedFan still doesn't get my EP45-UD3P 12 volt reading right.
          See what Everest or some other programs show for your 12 volt readings.

          If you have a friend that knows how to use a digital multi-meter (DMM) he can verify what the 12 volt readings are for you 24-pin and 8-pin psu to mobo cables.

            Check the value in EasyTune6.

            I've noticed that a lot of those other programs aren't computing it correctly.

              EasyTune only displays Vcore, Vram and 5V (doesn't even display Vbat). It isn't a software issue, it is just not part of the design. Sames goes for fan-speed control for the 2 other sys-fans. Even though the SuperIO chip supports it, Gigabyte didn't include it.

              Hell, easytune doesn't even display the CPU-temps right (while SpeedFan does).

                Please check the Hardware Monitor page in EasyTune6. It does show the +12 rail.

                BTW, this is not a bash EasyTune thread.

                  By all means, please point out the:

                  12V reading (or any of the other voltage readings) in the screenshot (taken on an EX58-Extreme with F9d BIOS and latest EasyTune 6). While you're at it, please point me to where I can find the proper CPU temp and System 3 fan speed reading.

                  I have a problem with the fact that Gigabyte left these out of the hw-design of the EX58-series. I'm not bashing the software, I'm critical of the EX58 hardware design.
