    New build wont boot!

    Hello,
    I've just put together an i7 920/ gigabyte ex58 u3dr / Coolermaster V8 / Ocz 1600 Gold DDR3 / ocz stealth xtreme 700w / 2 x Asus EAH 4350.

I've got the bare bones layed out : Cooler on . Processor in. Main power and One graphics card in pci.
The cooler spins up but there is no display on the monitor.

Any ideas or fault finding tests?

Thanks, any help would be great!!

Welcome to Tweaktown! You certainly have come to the right place. Lucky you, i also use the UD3R.

You will need to be much more specific about the issue. You will also need to give us complete system details . Tell us everything you can, the more the better. Start with you board revision, is it 1.0, or 1.6? The i7, is it a C0 or D0 stepping chip? You say the cooler spins up but there is no display, does it stay on like this or shut down ? Can you enter the BIOS? Try swapping those video cards since you have 2 of em. Double check all your connections.

make sure your rams plugged into the white slots not the blue as it wont boot up,try clearing the cmos with the button on the back of the board ...also make sure your gpu is plugged into a pci-e slot and not a pci slot check manual...but for ram its the white slots

Ok So. its an 1.0 Board.
        The processor is a

        i7 920. VER E63261-002 08/10/09
        PRod Code : BX80601920

There is no display atall, after having plugged in a speaker there is no beep or sound when booting. The 4 leds come on when powering the system and it stays on indefinately - does not restart.

I have the graphics card plugged into the blue slot with the clip.
The ram is only in the white slots - Ocz pc3 12800 on sticker.

Apart from powering on the board seems dead. no display on either g.cards.

So To recap, no bios entry no visual of any kind, check on two monitors..
Please run me through the Cmos clear - the red button on back?

        Thankyou for your help!!

You will see a set of pins labeled clrcmos in the lower right hand of the board if you are looking at it mounted in the case standing up, to the left of the SATA ports. I have only had to clear it once myself and did this by unplugging the power supply, then push the power button a few times to be sure all the juice is out of the system. Take a screwdriver and touch it to the pair of pins on the RIGHT side for a few seconds and let her sit for a minute.

Others will say use a jumper, mine did not come with one and a screwdriver does the same job plus its easier to get in there with. Do a search on clearing cmos to get a better idea how this works. Here is a diagram of the board , look next to the SATA ports and you will see the pins, they have a black base. You must look closely.

Still no go Im afraid, any other thought...

Starting to think the board may be dead? is this likely? It powers on but there is no bios or boot.

Let me remind you, i only had to clear cmos once when my system went into a continuous reboot cycle and nothing else would stop it . This was my last resort. And it worked. If you feel nothing else will work, or are just plain tired of it . Go for it. Good luck bro.

wazza what are you stalking me?! lol jk . Tony , if you wanna try out re-seating the heatsink , you might wanna consider removing everything out the case, place the motherbaord on a wood board or desk, only hookup 1 stick of ram, the gfx card, cpu and get your fresh reseat at the same time, eliminating anything being caused by the case. Ill grab you a couple of links to get u a better idea.

Just to be sure and i know its a dumb question but must be asked, maybe you forgot to apply thermal paste? if u did that would definitely cause you to overheat very very quickly.

O wow u already removed everything and it did the same thing... I just PM'd one of the guys , if anybody can crack this it would be him. Usually timely at answering as well.

Is this your first ever build? Really right now i dont know where to go with this. Only thing i could think of for a problem between cpu and mobo would be bent pins. I would hold off on that until LSD pops up.

Lets see, you got your 8 pin nice n snug, 24 pin , CPU fan header connected to the V8, maybe you could try a different combo of Ram sticks in different combos of Ram slots minus the blue slot.

You said your cpu fan spins up, so the board has power. is anything else spinning? case fans ? Plug in a HDD and optical drive , check them for power.
