    Re: Help me overclock

here are some quick settings to take you to an easy 3.360 ghz.
Enter your bios and enable BLCK control
    1. change the blck to from 133 to 160
    2. change the memory multiplier from auto 10x(this gives you your rated 1600mhz ram speed)
    3. change your uncore from auto to 20x or 21x (you'll see where this is at on the main menu)
    4. change your qpi link speed from auto to 36x ( found in same menu as #3)
    5. go to the bottom of the main MIT page to find cpu vcore- change from auto to 1.275 (this should be plenty for this mild overclock)
    6. Qpi voltage may need to be increased - change from auto to 1.3 just for starters ( you could need much more, or much less than this )
    7. Change the dram voltage to 1.64v
    8. Set your memory timings manually (this is also on the main MIT page) not sure what patriot specs are, but i use 8 8 8 24 for 1600mhz , and 9 9 9 24 for 1750 and my RAM is rated for 1333.

That should be enough to get you going safely. you dont have an aftermarket cooler listed so you may get hot, and could u please let us know which stepping your chip is , C0 or D0.

Everything else may be left alone for now. Download RealTemp and Prime95- both of which can be found here. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/late...y-tools-30530/

Keep an eye on those temps, do not perform a stress test using Prime95 until you have Realtemp running to monitor those cores.

Start with that , and anybody, if i forgot anything of major importance to get to 3.36, let us know. CopyMe, you let us know if your Cpu cooler is the stock Intel or aftermarket and if your chip is C0 or D0. Those two things are important to how far you can go .

Cool, water cooling. You should be able to do some serious work with that. I enable Load Line Calibration so the voltage dont drop as much when its under load.

Change performance enhance from turbo to standard.

Again , do you know if your chip is a C0 or D0 stepping?

Could u be more specific? Wouldn't go to windows. What is it doing exactly? Does it continuously reboot/power cycle? Do u see the Gigabyte Logo page? If so, how far does it get past this?

And tell me , are you using the machine now as you post here or are you on another computer. If you have another computer to use while we work on that would be much easier.

double check those settings and be sure to change what i recently posted. It should give u no issues. Again, that is a very mild overclock and really there is no reason for it to not boot.

                      Re: Help me overclock

Ok, so u can still get into the bios. Load Optimized defaults and get into windows. Check your core temps using Real temp. Do a quick stress test make sure ur temps are ok.

Seriously, that Overclock should give you zero issues.

Update you Bios setttings template to what you were using please. Exactly how it is.

If ya want, you could even start by Loading Op defaults and increasing the blck to 160. leave everything else alone . FOR NOW. This is just to get you in windows.

Dont forget to post the settings you used with the info i gave u , and anything else you may have changed. It must be accurate.

ok exit to BIOS. Change your Vcore From auto to 1.3, and QPI to 1.3. See if that loads. If it does, we move on.

66c is way too high for a D0 , on water , at 3.36ghz. I have a C0 which is the crappier of the bunch and get between 65-68 at 3.8ghz pending ambient temps.
