Hello All.
I've having an issue that is making me feel like a moron. At this point I have two nearly computer boxes because I have bought doubles to figure this out.
I've built a nice box with the following:
GA-P55-UD5
Intel Core I7 860
4x Crucial 2GB DDR3-1333
4x WD Black 750
Antec 800W PS
2x EVGA GTX 275
After building it, I had no POST, just a constant power cycle and DIMM_LED.
If I pulled the memory and leave only a single DIMM in DIMM_1, it will not power cycle, but just powers up with the DIMM_LED. No beeps at all.
I've done the following:
1 - Reseated CPU, tried different cooler
2 - Reseated Memory
3 - cleared CMOS - took out battery, pulled power, left over night
After that didn't work, I picked up a second board, processor and memory. Board and CPU were the same, memory is kingston (also DDR3-1333).
I benched the second set of parts and used a cheap ATI PCIe video and a Mushkin 500W PS.
I got the same results! Still No POST - just a power cycle and the DIMM_LED is on.
So... WTF am I missing???
I've been a PC tech for more than 15 years. This is the first Core I7 I've built. I can't let this thing beat me.
Oh, and I'm 100% sure the board is mounted correctly - no shorts. Second board is on a cardboard box.
Also - MD1, MD2, GD1, GD2 are all 4 lit solid. When I called Gigabyte, they stated that they simply mean that the board is getting power. Though posts I've read here say that it mean an over-voltage. So, which is it?
