Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME and d0 compatibility

    Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME and d0 compatibility

    I'm considering buying a Gigabyte GA-EX58-EXTREME motherboard, but I'm worried about the d0 compatibility issue. Do all versions of the motherboard ship with the old bios or is it safe to assume that if I order the mobo, they bios will be a new and compatible one?

    Even if they ship with the old BIOS you will most likely be able to boot and update your BIOS, the issues just affect settings, stability, and CPU Detection.

    You will be fine I think.

        Keep in mind that is not a 100% for sure thing, so if you have a C0 handy keep it until after you get your D0 going.

        You will most likely be fine though, if it wont boot then you know this is the most likely issue though

          i cant comment on the extreme board but with my ud5 it came shipped with the old bios i just plopped in my d0 and it ran fine,i updated bios later

              im not sure but i updated to f7 after i got it so it could have been anything below f7 bios

                Ahh ok, just wondered how old it was is all. I think all would boot fine to be able to update the BIOS, just never know about those F1-F2 versions ya know.

                I think most boards should be shipping with at least F4-F5 now anyway if not newer

                  My Extreme MOBO shipped 1 month ago with the F7 BIOS. No problem with the Intel i7 DO stepping. After updating I now have the F9d BIOS.

                    Just wanted to update my concerns to those who may be in a similar situation. The board shipped with an old bios, but booted just fine for me to update it to the most current bios. Thanks for the help :-)
