I am sorry I don't know. I would imagine you should remove slot 1 the PC2100 Which is a Kingston Valueram
          Slot 2 is a RAmos 256MB DDR PC2700 184Pin CL=2.5 non-ECC Unbuffered DDR333 2.5V 32Meg x 64 Dimm Memory Module Mfr p/n RM56D281TA-27BC
          Slot 3 has generic
I would replace all 3 with 512MB modules.

Hi i just read your updated post,

i cant afford to buy 3 at the moment, but for now if i use one 512 and replace the pc2100 like you suggest. will it work with the other 2?

and then i will replace the reaming 2 when i can.

                  Re: help please, memory question

It is totally up to you. It's not expensive and you can drop that 512MB module in slot 1. You don't want to forget to setup bios to failsafe first. Then after the first reboot go back into bios and set it back to optimized defaults. I would start saving my money and consider a new computer in the near future though.

                    Re: help please, memory question

thanks again. so to install the one 512 i restart my comp, go into bios and set it to fail safe, then shut my pc off and install it?

then when i turn my pc back on do i let it load into windows or do i just wait and see if my memory is regognized there at the startup screen and then press delete to enter bios? and go back to optimized defaults

i do plan to buy a new pc but all i do on here is surf a few website and play some tunes... now stuff starts to freeze up after its been idle or if i have a few programs running at once.
l had zero problems before my service pack update
do the service packs use up more resources memory etc??

                      Re: help please, memory question

No you won't want it to load into Windows. Just DEL and load into Bios check go to Load optimized defaults. Then save and exit. When you restart again you should go into Bios and make any specific changes you may have, or load Windows. You may want to try Ctrl+Alt+Del (task manager) and see what all the processes you have running. These use Windows resources, and tie up memory. There are other ways to free up some memory as well. You may want to perform these functions first. http://www.crn.com/white-box/5920147...PSKH4ATMY32JVN
