  • Need help for EP45-UD3R rev1.1 and Corsair RAM

    Hello all...
Firstly, sorry for my bad English.
I have problem with my new computer. It always crash/bsod since 2 months ago. All bsod pointed into the bad ram. I reformat my computer many times (4-6x) and change my OS from XP32, XP64 and now 7 64; but still get bsod. After i run memtest86+ v2.11, i found error in my ram stick, so i RMA it and get new one. I test it and no error found.
I install Win 7 64 (build 7600) and after few days get crash again. I test my RAM again and it pass memtest. I also test my graphic card and it pass 3dmark vantage. The last thing i haven't sure is my mobo, so i google and find this forum. I read few threads and learn that some people also have problem like me and it because RAM setting in BIOS.
I try to change from optimized default setting into below setting but still get crash. Can someone provide suggestion ?
(Btw, my first BIOS version was F9 and I already install all latest drivers from Gigabyte/ATI/Intel Chipset download section)

I find there is slight different in Standard Timing Control before I change it. The first default values (BIOS suggestion) is 5-5-5-15 and after i set it manually into 5-5-5-15, it (BIOS Suggestion) changes into 5-7-7-24. Is this normal ?

Re: Need help for EP45-UD3R rev1.1 and Corsair RAM

In what situations does it crash, games/load, idle?
Try XMP enabled, timings and multiplier on auto, the rest as it is now.
Too much or too little MCH Core may be a problem, try MCH 1.2-1.26v, increase one step at a time. Sometimes less is needed, 1.05-0.95v give that a try if more doesn't help.
In case non of this work, you can try 2.04B mulriplier for DDR-800 and tighter timings, 5-4-4-12 or 4-4-4-12.
Running Prime95 large FFT torture can help you find bad/good settings quicker.

Re: Need help for EP45-UD3R rev1.1 and Corsair RAM

      Thanks for your quick response...
It usually crash when i am playing game, but sometime when i watching dvd movie or browsing the net.
If i decrease the multiplier for DDR2-800, it means i don't get 1066 perfomance, do i ? Is there any incompatibility between my mobo and RAM so it can't run in 1066 ? As i know, my ram spec already supported by gigabyte mobo.
Is it ok for me for running Prime95, because i am afraid my cpu temperature will be too hot ? In what temperature i must stop the prime95 test (in case something bad happen) ?

Re: Need help for EP45-UD3R rev1.1 and Corsair RAM

There could be incombatibility or just some tweaking is required, I suggested DDR-800 in the event everything else fail. Memory performance will be close if not equal to DDR-1066 with the tighter timings.

Use RealTemp or CoreTemp to monitor cores temperatures. While core temps are under 70c there is no reason to worry.

With XMP profile1, timings and multiplier on auto, the rest as it is now, try increasing MCH Core from 1.1v up to 1.26v, one step at a time, and run Prime95/Orthos large FFT, than 1.05v and down to 0.95v, if increasing it didn't work.
