  • replacement ds4p wont overclock

    Hi,

I had my e8400 overclocked to 3.60 ghz by simply changing the CPU Host Clock control on my gigabyte ep45-ds4p. However, i had to replace the motherbaord and ram because of a brown out. Now my new ds4p and ram will not overclock at all. Instead as soon as anything is changed the bios restarts and resets to a safe default.

After hours spent looking on the message boards for ideas I have tried:
    bios f3, f5, f8
setting the voltage of the cpu to 1.25
putting the ram in different slots (dual and single channel)

in regards to my ballistix tracer red ddr2 800mhz ram i have
-manually lowered the timings to 5,5,5,18 from cas 4
    -set the voltage to 2.0

    My system specs are
    Gigabyte ep45-ds4p motherboard
    intel e8400 core 2 duo
Western Digital 500 gig black edition hard drive (with operating sytem)
    Samsung 750 gig hard drive
    Radeon 4870 (sonic dual edition)

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this your suggestions are more than welcome!

    Re: replacement ds4p wont overclock

The recommended settings in this post should be applied after you've loaded OPTIMIZED bios settings.
Perform extended stability testing using Memtest86+ (v:2.11) and Prime95, OCCT, or Orthos using stock settings to verify that your new hardware is stable.

Please follow the instructions that deal with adding your complete hardware setup to your forum signature. Include details such as bios/mobo versions, cpu heatsink setup, psu brand/model, etc.
This will make it much easier for us to help you and avoid possible errors.

If you're still having problems post your bios settings using either of these EP45 generic bios templates.

Did you try the exact same BIOS you had been using before? That would be the ONLY one that would/should work with your previous settings

If you need help with settings maybe, please get a template from my signature and give us the FULL Settings you are trying that you have issues with and we will advise back

After changing the settings in the above post everything works fine again. Not sure if it was the MCH core or something in the advanced settings, but im now a happy man. Thanks heaps for your help!

          Re: replacement ds4p wont overclock

Are you running at 3.60GHz bios settings?
Have you performed extended stability testing with your replacement hardware?

          Glad to have helped out.
