  • Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

About every second time I wake from sleep mode the screen comes on but the drive light does not flash, the mouse pointer is very slugish, my g15 keyboard lights up but my macro keys dont work and if I click Icons it freezes up. But if I wait for about 3 to 4 minutes the hdd light flashes the keyboard works and the mouse moves fine. I dont know if this is a windows problem or if it is delayed in loading something or what. This happens about 50% of the time. Anyone have this problem or ideas to what it might be. Also when the computer begins to work I hear the windows chime right prior to everything working fine. Thanks

Re: Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that on occasion when comming out of sleep mode, windows "recognizes" my hard drives as if I just popped in a cd and its asking what I want to do such as open.

Re: Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

I just noticed this from your first post:
all drivers from mother board disc are installed except the audio
The drivers on the installation disc are often dated. Your best bet is to download the most recent drivers (excepting audio) from the Gigabyte website. Download speeds are slow, but the fastest sites are from the European or Russian GB sites.

Is your system overclocked? If yes, please post your current bios settings, using this bios template. Ignore the values in the template and fill in your current settings, replacing AUTO with any manually set values.

Did you load OPTIMIZED bios settings after your bios flash, prior to making any bios changes?
Is AHCI enabled for your hard drives?

F9E is currently the latest beta bios for your system.
You can sometimes find an even newer bios version in the Gigabyte Latest BIOS thread.

Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

And to add to the above, you do NOT need ALL Drivers installed from the CD and doing so can actually cause issues. You only need to install what you use, LAN, Audio, Ect. If you are not using the Gigabyte/J.Micron ports for RAID or AHCI then do not install those drivers.

If you do not use DES do not install it, and so on. As said above you should always get the latest drivers either directly from the Gigabyte site or from the source of the driver such as Realtek, Intel, ect.

To resume from S3 sleep you must be 100% Stable, have you stress tested your system with Memtest86+, Orthos/Prime95, ect?

I found with the above settings, if I disable loadline calibration, the computer will not enter sleep mode at all. It will sleep the monitor.

I don't think you have quite enough vcore for 200x20 especially if problems occur when disabling load line calibration

                  ^^ Right ^^

Disabling LLC should not matter on this subject, unless you are not otherwise stable

For now, until you have resolved your issues I would leave all memory subtimings on auto to be sure one of your choices there are not causing you issues

I also advise you test out x17-x18 Uncore once you get a bit stable, this can help with performance and often stability at higher speeds. I use x18 at 21x200

More QPI/Vtt, along with Vcore, is suggested. You are at 7.2GT/s for your QPI so you are going to need more than you have set most likely. I would test with LinX or Prime95 until you do not get 0x00000124 BSOD's. You may need 1.32-1.4+ for the above settings, depending on your ram itself of course

Re: Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

I had the computer wakeing from sleep perfectly about 3 times in a row then I went to wake it and it would power up then power off then power up again but not boot up. The error code lights on the mother board kept flashing really fast and reseting wouldnt work so I had to power it down then power it on again. Again it powered on then powered off then powered on then booted. Weird

Re: Problem waking from sleep, anyone else?

Ok I just installed Windows 7 using a different HDD installing nothing except the driver for my sound card and the video card driver. No software or any other drivers at all. I tried the sleep and wake and still have the same problem! Computer is slow to fully respond,(about 5 minutes) and randomly the auto play menu pops up for the HDD as if I just then plugged them in. I also tried setting all the ram setting to auto except I kept the CAS at 8 TRCD 8, TRP 8, and the TRas at 24.
Some one for god sake help me solve this please!
                            Thanks in advance
                            Shane

Although sound card and video card drivers should not matter, since you mentioned them it leads me to believe you think they might.

Do you have the same issue with the sound card and drivers not installed? How about GFX Card installed of course, but no drivers?

We can't really advise if you dont post your settings that are failing, we have no clue if your current questions apply to stock clocks or overclocks and what BIOS you are using now.

So, please post your full settings that are failing and we will try to see what could be wrong. As you have already found though, it may just be that your board will not properly resume with a quad after a certain FSB
