This is my first build with a Gigabyte board, and I was wondering if the memory will work with the processor and graphics card? I went by the Gigabyte website to pick out the memory, but wasn't clear on whether or not it would work with cpu? Any help would be appreciated. I already bought it, so I'm hoping for good news.

Re: My New Build, how is it?

Not sure about AMD Myself, but I do know your CPU must support your memory speed or it will either not work or underclock.

Artdrivers is our AMD guy, I'm sure he will drop you a comment shortly.

    Congrats on your new build!

A friend of mine uses that same Board , he has had very good results Overclocking his X3 720BE and staying very cool at the same time.

Looks like the RAM you purchased is triple channel which is normally used in i7 platforms... Not sure how that would work out . They do have AMD /AM3 optimized RAM available, yea i know you already made the purchase and good luck.

      Art where are you?!

Re: My New Build, how is it?

The memory was listed on Gigabyte's site under memory supported. I wanted to build with a lot of memory... Hopefully Art can say for sure. BTW, everything just arrived today. I can't wait! I don't want to take stuff out of the box though, not if I'm going to have to return something.

If it is actually on the QVL at Gigabyte's site then that means it is tested and compatible for sure

Uh oh, I found this: PVT36G1600LLK - Not running 1600 - Patriot Memory Support Forums
Any memory experts out there? Should I just send it back, or does someone think they have a solutuion?

Re: My New Build, how is it?

              User error most likely!

I don't see any mention of NB Voltage, which would need to be raised and he never did change tRFC either.

You have 30 days to send it back right? If so try it out and see

Well I'm a total noob, so that helps a lot. I'm waiting until Saturday to put it together. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for the help LSD (I miss that stuff).

Re: My New Build, how is it?

                    Dear Pretendica,

Thank you for your interest in our products. How much total memory are you planning in use in your system? Also these modules for designed for the new x58 chipsets and not for the AMD 770. I do not recommend this kit for that motherboard. I would recommend PV234G1600LLK, PVS34G1600LLK or PGS34G1600ELK.

Thank you for choosing Patriot Memory.

                    Best regards,
                    Valentine Lan

I don't know if I'd go with amd, intel is king right now especially when lynnfield prices drop. If you plan on using heavy hitting gpu cards then go x58. Either way wait a little cause with lynnfield and p55 out with semi-competitive prices at launch amd will have a price slash fest soon.

You have the wrong memory 3 sticks of tripple channel memory in a dual channel system wont work right. When Gigabyte tested it they did so in single channel mode with 1 stick. Get the memory in a kit for dual channel.
