  • Hybrid Sleep Rules!

I think this is what is called... Hybrid sleep. Using the previous F6 bios, putting the computer to sleep would still leave all the lights, fans, everything on. Pretty much just turns off the monitor from the looks of it.

I have upgraded recently to the F8a Bios and decided to put my baby to bed. I kinda freaked when all the fans shut down and it appeared the computer was entirely off.

So i move the mouse and within seconds shes back , wide awake, at the windows user password screen in a matter of seconds. Wow i love this.

My brother has the F6 bios and when his sleeps , the computer stays running, but the monitor goes off. When he tries to wake it up, the monitor signals its coming on, but stays black and he must hard restart.

Im guessing this is due to the bios version ?

Also, after being asleep for a while , my machine needs to be powered on by the power button, shows the Gigabyte logo , and resuming windows.

It would be sweet if someone could give me a better idea of the difference between the two. Thanks all.

    Re: Hybrid Sleep Rules!

S1 is Hibernate which you describe with the fans and such running

S3 is Sleep where only the memory remains powered on, everything else will be in full shut down mode.

Here is a page for you on all the states, sorry to have missed your post dbee!

            Re: Hybrid Sleep Rules!

I found it trying to find a s3 sleep reply a user made a long time ago, and I hate seeing zero replies on posts so I had to reply on it
