  • GTX260 and 275 in SLI possible ?

    Hi,

Is it possible to use two different nvidia card to hook up SLI ?
Or it is possible with the same chip only ?

I have an zotac 260 amp edition and would like to use with an 275 version.

    Is it possible ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Pubem

    No, you can't SLI them.
You can buy another GTX 260 and sli it with your current 260.
You can SLI the GTX 260 shader 192 and GTX 260 shader 216 though.
My vote is get another GTX 260 because it will save you some money. Also, you can play any games with those two in SLI.

I have 2 GTX 260 in SLI and Samsung monitor 2048x1152. All my games are set to max and they run smooth no problem at all. That includes Crysis Wars.
I only enabled SLI on Crysis War or Crysis. The rest of my games like COD4/WAW and more I disabled SLI.

      Hello,

Thank you for the reply. The cards will be not in the same computer, but not too far away :-)
So thats the reason, if I want sometimes SLI, I can take the card to the same computer.

But, finally I decided for 275 amp, because my 2 friends and brother bought 260 , so we can sli it any time.

Swapping computer components back and forth on a regular/ semiregualar basis is not a real good idea unless you are troubleshooting. Keep in mind that static shock, bad connection, dropped component, power surge, and general wear and tare can all contribute to a dead card. I guess if you and your buddies have enough money to replace any fried components and are all willing to accept the risks then go for it.

Thanks iambelial, I understood it :-)

I wanted only say that we have enough same type card for sli any time.

For me, it's really not important to have SLI config all the time.
I'm not playing, always haveing chep graph card.
            (geforce4 until last year...)
And none of my friends has good card too until now.
(they using computer for work as me do)

So, if I want to flight with microsoft flight sim once a year, is not big deal for me to put 2 card into computer. (it was my dream since silicon graphics time on exibitions...jesus , now at my home...)
(I bought this card, becuase it's not a price if I bought 6 year ago the previous one not because gaming all day :-)

Thanks for telling me about risks I know about them, (grounding down is ESSENTIAL before touching anything) but I'm tweak my computer all the time, no prob here about it.

            Thanks again!

            Best Regards,

+1 I am always changing things around for various tests and such. Just be careful always and you should be fine with any number of hardware changes you need to make.

I am sure that is all they were trying to say, be careful

Killing a hardware by replacing them is the best dead:-)

Killing hardware during work is the worse.
Wait for it's lifetime the same.

And final: It is a joy. I hate computers with dirty parts inside of it - except ventillation:))
