Re: BIOS > DQS Training Question

Do you think this would be an improvement? Would it accommodate my mobo and RAM, and maybe be more co-operative?

(And, could I unlock it with this mobo?)

I've also started a thread about it.

Re: BIOS > DQS Training Question

I don't know about unlocking the cores with the board we are using. I know some are claiming to unlock them with a slight increase or decrease in some cases. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/ga-m...09/index2.html

I got a reply from Gigabyte Technology about the F10 Bios
      Here is what they said:
Unfortunately the bios size is limited, when new updates are added it will require more space. In order to accommodate for the added new features. If you do not need the new features and wish to use the profile please revert back to the previous bios

You may want to keep this in mind for future purchases for your motherboard.
I believe the feature is nice but I noticed the @Bios Program on your Gigabyte driver DVD has a save option as well, and in Windows. I have heard that we should not use @biois to flash a bios. What could it hurt to use the save option. Then Flash the bios with the new Flashspi.exe program? Thats something I will need to look into later.

        AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black + GA-MA78GMS2H ?

This afternoon I have taken EVERYTHING out of my system, and I was working with ONLY
1 stick of RAM (2 GB)
        zero drives of any kind
        zero USB

I tested 23 startups. Averages, after subtracting the highest and lowest for each category:

(Each test on startup after 90 seconds holding in power button to release capacitors)

        RAM =
        1 stick = 2 GB = 45 seconds
        2 sticks = 4 GB, dual channel = 36 seconds
        4 sticks = 8 GB, dual channel = 42 seconds

That is with NO HDDs, no opticals, no USBs. No Windows, in other words.

I have done better when I've had a fully laden system and tweaked it. These tests were on OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS and F10 BIOS.

Re: BIOS > DQS Training Question

Um—would you like to have a go at the Impossible Question
I know that the motherboard GA-MA78GM-S2H rev.1.1 will indeed support the AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black + But the south bridge on the board is a AMD SB700 which does not offer ACC which is what you would need to unlock the locked cores. I had a Phenom 3 8450 and found this out so I sold it on Ebay and purchased the 9600 The thing about this is the ACC is offered in the SB710 and SB750. We just missed it. I certainly hope this clears up some of your questions.
