    I've just recently put together a new system and have a stable OC using the following settings:

    After satisfying myself with 24 Hr Prime small & large FFT stability tests as well as IBT I started doing video stress tests with Furmark. Running Furmark for a few minutes or gaming for 15 - 20 minutes causes my BIOS settings to revert to defaults after a reboot. I've made the same video stress tests with the BIOS set to optimized defaults only to get similar results.

    I've tried clearing CMOS, re-flashing F10e, and going back to F9 and the results are the same. Does anyone have any advice for me to try next?

    Sounds like your graphic card is the issue, not the BIOS Settings?

    But you could try adding some south bridge voltages and see if that corrects things. Try these changes, and possibly a bit more Dram voltage if your ram is spec'd higher >>

      I certainly won't say that it isn't the root of the problem but I haven't run into any issues with the card in my EVGA 680i motherboard.

        Yes, please do try those setting to see if they have any effect.

        tRD of 8 at 450FSB can also be an issue, you may want to try this at 9 if the above voltages do not help. More MCH Core for testing could also alleviate that as an issue

          Well I tried different voltages and higher tRD and nothing changed.
          I did however discover that if I wait somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes after running the video stress tests then I have no problems at all with the BIOS during re-boot...

          So for me the question is what does the BIOS sense during the boot cycle that causes it to reject the current settings? Is it a temperature measurement or some other data that was collected while the OS was running?

          Is there any software that can report MCH and/or ICH temperatures?

            Overclocking your ram with tighter timings than it's specs is simply asking for trouble with no real benefit.

              It very well could be temp related. You would need to hook up a sensor to your NB, I would suspect this and not the SB.

              Or just add a fan directly over the NB for testing purposes and see if things improve, if so then you know this was at least part of the issue

                Sorry about that but I used the wrong template above. All the memory timings are at their defaults. The ones from above were some settings that lsd suggested for me to try out.

                  I agree with you completely. As a matter of fact UPS is delivering this today. After I get it installed I should get a better idea of the temperature zones inside the case.

                  Also a question I meant to ask before I assembled this rig has to do with the TIM under the NB and SB heatsinks. On the EVGA 680i we found that the TIM was just caked on like a huge glob of bubblegum! Not only that but the heatpipe was twisted such that both heatsinks would not lay down flat. Fixing these problems gave most of us about a 10 temperature drop on both the NB and SB. Has anyone seen this type of thing with this (or any other for that matter) motherboard?

                    Yes, redo your paste it you are comfortable with that. It is caked on like you suspect. NB is the main issue, you can leave the pad for the SB as it will be fine. Same for mosfets. Just redo the NB. I always do and I agree I find a good temp drop as well

                      I finally got around to installing and testing out the Scythe Kaze Server and I must say that I am impressed with it. I upgraded my CPU and rear exhaust fans to a pair of 3000 RPM Scythe Fans the other 2 120mm fans are Scythe 1600 RPM S-Flex series and are in front of the drive cage. After several days of playing around with the temperature probe placements and the temperature set points I finally hit on something that works for me. I like the Semi-Auto setting on the controller because on full auto some of the fans would stop (like the CPU cooler!). Also the fans tended to fight each other.

                      On Semi-Auto settings all fans turn at the minimum RPM's you set and after the temperature threshold is crossed they spin up as needed. I used 2 probes in the drive bay, 1 on the CPU heatsink, and 1 on the NB heatsink. When running bench marks or doing other intensive tasks the fan speed starts increasing after about 30 seconds and are at full throttle around 75. Once the CPU returns to idle the fans throttle back after 40 seconds and finally return to the selected RPM after 105 seconds or so.

                      Those 3000 RPM fans do make a lot of noise when going full tilt with testing or gaming but when everything is all over they run whisper quiet and all without me having to do a thing

                      The only complaint I could make is about the display. My system sits on the floor so I can't read the panel just by looking down at it. I have to back away from the desk and actually lean over to read anything. When making adjustments I found it more convenient to sit on the floor
