    Thanks Warren,

I got it stable at 3.8ghz. Good enough for me. temps are somewhat high but acceptable at the tasks that I usually run them.

    I appreciate the help

Any thoughts here guys? I am getting the Bluescreen 124 error from time to time under load meaning QPI voltage issues? How does my memory timing look?

        • Re: Overclocking the Gigabyte X58 UD4P

Yeap, 124 BSOD is QPI/Vtt, often too low.

Try these and see how you get along.

Note my mention of Fail Safe, you are using that so it's probably part of your issues.

If you are seeing temps of 93C at 3.8Ghz already you are pushing to far for your cooling as is, you'll need a better cooler if you want to go to 4Ghz or even get 3.8 stable.

              93C is hot

              • Re: Overclocking the Gigabyte X58 UD4P

I thought I had a good cooler for what I read in some reviews that came easily to 3.8GHz
last night to try to make it run at 3.6GHz but it came just touching 90c maybe I'm not doing something wrong because when I put in 3.6 stop drive voltages
Those who believe you can get the cooler I have?

Did those reviews use the same CPU and voltages you are using?

I've never used that cooler, but I do know it's not one of the larger/better coolers when it comes to these CPU's.

I've never used that cooler, but I do know it's not one of the larger/better coolers when it comes to these CPU's.
If you've used almost all the reviews that use the c to 3.8 and 4.0
I'm just using this cooler with a fan only if it is not best used with 2 as I read about 5 degrees low temp

                      I used to
                      CPU Vcore....1.37500v
                      QPI/VTT........1.34v

and now, only the vcore at the same voltage to drive the rest of the reports except under temp boot me

Is that CPU voltage a fixed amount? Or set to normal or auto? I would try setting cpu voltage to normal in voltage list or try 1.2-1.25v for 3.8ghz

that amount is what got me so:
at first hung the pc or the pc was reset and the latest was the famous 101 and 124 errors so I put those amounts voltage
Now I recommend these amounts seem to me very little and I already try and hang or reset my pc
But now I'll try to see what I get

Those aren't high voltages at all, it just shows you need a better cooler is all, or you do not have it fully installed (Loose or too much paste)

I just though you might be able to lower voltages and temps a little, you want a top quality cooler like the. Prolimatech megahalems or the true 120,and two fans in push/pull,I use two fans on my cooler, you want to use top quality thermal paste like mx and tx 2 or 3,it will all help to lower CPU temps
