    Hello all,

I'm pretty new to overclocking and am after some advice on setting up me new kit. I've listed my settings below, I know a lot of them are left on Auto but I just did an optimised reset off the BIOS.

    Thanks :o)

Argh, sorry! That would be the one thing I left out of the last post :-S.
      I'd like to hit 3.5GHz.
Have also just flashed to F9 BIOS

Hi LSD, long time no see :)

Just to jump in... I notice you wrote multiplier 9x, and should be 8 , right ?

Also, that board (ep43ds3 wont go 450FSB so easely...even on 425...thats my experience. Maybe its better to stay with original multiplier 10, and then going up with FSB to see how much cpu can take ?

                Just my 2 cents...

Thanks!! Long time no see? It is your first post here??? Do you have another name here or do you know me from somewhere else?

Yes should be 8 CPU Multi. above, sorry!

You may be right, P43 is kinda limited for FSB and I think I overlooked that. Let me know if you can get 450 FSB Going, if not I will give you some settings to try maybe 9x400 for 3.6 or 9x375 for 3.4 for now using 2.40B Ram multi

                    Re: GA-EP43-DS3 Overclocking advice

Apologies for what may seem be stupid questions, just testing my understanding...

The EP43-DS3 says on the box its rated to 1600MHz on the FSB (is that after its been quad pumped? does this apply on a dual core processor?) I know that how far I'll be able to push it is dependant on a whole lot more but I take it that I ought to really just ignore the box?

I'll be trying those settings tonight when I get in from work :o)

You guys are a great help, its all very good reading manuals, magazines and 'how-to' guides but there is nothing like being guided this way and being able to ask questions. Thanks!

                      Re: GA-EP43-DS3 Overclocking advice

That applies to any processor, and it just a "Spec" or Selling point, the boards will do 2000+ FSB, maybe not the P43's but the P45's do for sure and they have the same rating.

All in all that is just something to add looks to the products specs, nothing you need to worry about as a limiter or anything. So ya, ignore the box and try out 400 FSB (Which is 1600 FSB as per the box states)

                        Re: GA-EP43-DS3 Overclocking advice

My board won't even post above 418FSB(1672 rated) but the DS3 has more overclocking options so you may be more lucky.
One thing about the E6700(B2) is it's low thermal spec, so keep an eye on the temps. It should be kept below 60c core temps, and not over 65c core temps.

We were just talking via PMs, so i made an ironic joke :) ... But you probably talk with alot of people (helping them...like i said, its very respectfull ;) ) so you overlooked it :) .

Yeah, thats what im talking about. I've tried several P43-DS3 boards and not a single one was able to reach 410FSB (without voltage rising). Maybe with voltage pumping situation would be different but i wouldnt bet on it.

Pulled these specs down, wonder whether they'll help give any indication to the overall overclock?
