  • EX58-UD3R problems with three sticks of ram

    I have an issue with my new board. Running the EX58-UD3R (vers. 1.0) with i7 920 (D0), and 6GB Mushkin HP3 DDR3 1600 ram (HP3-12800 DDR3 - Mushkin Enhanced), with an Enermax Revolution+ 1050W psu. Two GTX 285s installed.

Assembled it, and had a difficult time getting Windows installed (would get bsod message 'page Fault in non paged area'), but eventually got it running after sending 1.54v to the vdimm. Thought problem was solved. Then, after a few hours, would not boot windows again. Tried vdimm 1.6v (ram is rated for this), and no improvement. Now it won't even post with all three sticks installed, so the issue progressed. All settings at stock, and the dimms are in the proper slots. Did the following:

    1. Thought it might be a short, so I removed from the case and tried on the bench. With just one video card. No improvement. Checked the board for damage, etc.
    2. Tried 1 stick of ram. Booted fine. Rebooted a few times, and fine.
    3. Tried two sticks, booted fine. Rebooted a few times with same result.
    4. Tried 3 sticks, won't post.
    5. Tried each stick of ram on its own, and all boot to Windows no problem. Only will not post when all three are used together.

Board is using the latest bios. You guys think the board is bad? Something I am overlooking?

    Thanks!

Re: EX58-UD3R problems with three sticks of ram

What BIOS are you using, I see you say latest but just wanted to check because that means different things to different users.

Can you please give me your full settings, Sounds like Auto is not working for you so I need to advise you some things to manually set. Which I would advise anyway because you need to be sure you find and set your own stable QPI Voltages and this is likely the issue.

So please fill this out and I will try to help you get going.

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

0X00000050 << Incorrect Memory Timing/Freq or Uncore Multi
    0X00000124 << Incorrect QPI/Vtt Voltage (To Much/Not Enough)
