Gigabyte X58-UD4P and hard drives

Or lack of hard drives I should say.... I can't make it recognize my 2 SATA 3.0Gb/s drives and it doesn't offer a chance to enter the RAID utility. I've been through the manual about 3 times and tried all the SATA ports to no avail.

What drives are they? Did you try the drives on another computer? You don't see the drives at all in BIOS or how do you know it doesn't recognize them?

What BIOS version are you using (i.e. try updating your BIOS).

These are the hdd's: Barracuda ES SATA 3-Gb/s 250-GB Hard Drive | Seagate
I have 2 of them that I've been running in RAID in another rig for about 1 1/2 years. They have been sitting in the case, waiting for a new motherboard...... In "Standard CMOS Features" neither drive shows up. Not in RAID nor singly by themselves......
I'll see if I can try another drive/drives.....

Do they have the little jumper on them to limit them to 1.5Gbs? If so, try them out without the jumper :)

It's the drives, they're not spinning up for some reason. I tried another SATA drive and it was recognized right away..... Time for another RMA....

as i told another forum member, i had this issue before, make sure you give your Hard drives have a delay. its on 0 by default try 2 seconds ,if not try 3 seconds. otherwise your hard drive will fail to load...

That rule generally applies to low wattage hard drives, like Green series or Eco drives. For standard 7200rpm, non Eco drives, having no delay isn't a problem.
and even then, with the eco drives, they would detect as attached storage once a windows is loaded up..

Thanks ell, but I saw that and had it set for 5 seconds.....the drives just weren't starting up. They've sat for about 2 months after some hard usage from a competition. Doesn't matter now tho' 'cause they're on their way back to the manufacturer.
