Hi, this is my first time OC'ing and I am having a bit of trouble. I have a Intel E6300 Pentium Dual-core (2.8ghz stock) and can not seem to get it past 3.1 ghz. I have my multiplier at 10.5, FSB at 295, and Vcore seems weird to me. When I increased the vcore from the stock to 1.36 I was still unable to increase the FSB from 295 (stably). Also CPU-Z says my vcore is in fact at 1.3... it was also lower than what it was suppose to be at stock vcore (sorry don't remember what it was exactly. My temperatures are about 38 C idle and around 60 C under load. I have seen people get 3.5ghz easily out of this cpu and when asking for help at Overclock.net I was referred to this website as one person thinks it may be the motherboard. Also, I have 450w PSU and XP 64-bit. Any help greatly appreciated

Re: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L // OC help?
Sorry we let you wait.
Vcore has very little to do with FSB speed. MCH Core has, but I already see you don't have it in BIOS. Press Ctrl+F1 in the main BIOS screen, the screen should then flash, enter MIT and see if there are more options there then before.
Limited OC motherboard/chpset as the other guy said, be prepared for disappointments.
Fill your signature with your system specs, a link to your memory page or at least part number.
Fill the folowing template with your settings (siggested, those to the left, and set)
It's just a template, ignore the values in it, and replace them with your own. Post it bacj wraped with code tags (click the # icon in post editor and paste.)
We'll see what can be done.

Re: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L // OC help?
Ctrl+F1 didn't make no change then, but I am sure I saw CPU Reference in the board manual.
When you overclock FSB and leave memory multiplier on auto the memory gets overclocked too, select the multiplier that gives the rated memory speed or lower.
Try 333FSB with x9 CPU Clock Ratio and 2.40B memory multiplier, then if it works try to increase CPU ration.
Set CPU Vcore/Termination to their default value, and raise VCore if needed. CPU Reference can be left auto.
Set PCI-E frequency to 100.
DRAM Voltage needs to be 2.0v for these timings, check BIOS HWMonitor to see what is it set for with auto.
Could you post a screen capture of MemSet main and SPD window (click spd) before you make changes?
Keep an eye on CPU temperatures with RealTem/CoreTemp.

Re: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L // OC help?
Ok, my memory multiplier only has the options to do 2.0A, 2.5A, and I think 3.0A or something around that so what should I set it at? When I set my FSB and CPU multiplier to those settings it still will not boot. It seems that no matter what the other settings so far are, the FSB does NOT want to go higher. Is there any way around this? I mean that just seems to be the problem to me... Also, I have the vcore set to 1.325, but it says it's only actually running at 1.29, is that suppose to do this? and does this mean I can raise it above 1.36 max so that it actually runs at 1.36? Thanks!

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)
Allows you to set the system memory multiplier. Options are dependent on CPU FSB and the
(G)MCH Frequency Latch settings. Auto sets memory multiplier according to memory SPD
data. (Default: Auto)

As for setting vcore above specs, there should not be a problem to set it highr to actually run at max spec voltage, but it is up to you to decide, I can't tell you it is safe.

Re: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L // OC help?
Well, thanks, but someone helped me on a different site. Apparently it was my ram, when I lowered the ram speed to the 2.0A option it let me increase my FSB more so now I have it running at 3.5ghz :) I would like to take it higher as I could most likely hit 4.0ghz safely, but I don't think I can w/o better ram :( Thanks again though for the effort I seriously appreciate it!
