  • Hard Drive not recognized

I'm building my first computer. I have a SATA connected hard drive and I'm having problems installing vista ultimate, as it will not recognize my hard drive.

If I go to "Load Drivers" from this screen and go to browse, C:\ is an option. However if I select it, it says it is not formatted and gives me the option to format it. If I click format, I get an error message.

Is this just a problem in the BIOS, or do I need a driver, or what?

    Thank you for any help.

    Re: Hard Drive not recognized

Load the driver from the gigabyte support CD, OR if u have another computer put the gigabyte SATA driver onto a USB stick and install it from usb.

If all else fails, im assuming ur using AHCI or RAID mode in ur bios rite? If so u can change it to IDE mode for time being then use AHCI later. (Provided u follow teh correct steps instead of losing all ur data!)

Turns out the HDD was bad. It would show up in the BIOS though. wierd. I plugged in a WD 1TB HDD and it worked no problem. Thanks.
