    Hi,

    CPU temperature too much.Load the temperature 65 degrees

    Using the cpu fan = Sunbeam CCF ( 2000 RPM)
    Memory = 3*2gb 1600 mhz 1.65 v
    Cpu = core i7 920 2.66 ghz
    Bios = F8

    IDLE

    Re: UD5 X58 - Core i7 920 D0 Temperature Problem

    Welcome to i7. There is no problem here.

    My temperatures with a Thermalright TRUE cooler (see my specs in sig):

    idle - 35-40C
    load - 65-70C

    If you increase voltage you can expect to go into the high seventies/low 80's. People with stock coolers may be hitting 70s on load anyway.

    Please do a search on the forums before posting! This information is in many places :)

      No. These values are not normal.Now I'm using the same fan. Nothing changed.

        Your right - for idle the 45-52C range your showing is quite high unless your ambient is realllly hot. The 65C you reported on load however is not out of the ordinary for an i7. Considering your load temperature is fine, your CPU fan may but throttling down at idle, giving you higher temperatures. Check the throttling settings for the CPU Fan in the BIOS. If that still doesn't work, it may be worth reattaching the heatsink with fresh thermal grease.

          First off you have the DO stepping, (not the CO stepping) The DO should be set at a lower vcore voltage. Please be sure you have the latest bios updates F6 or F7 bios. F6 2009/03/31 Enhance Core i7 D0 stepping compatibility and Fixes abnormal messages from EasyTune 6 and DES in Vista.
          F7 2009/05/11 Update new CPU microcode
          Download the English version from the Asia(China) site it downloads faster and is in English. The download site is below Scroll down near the bottom of the page to select the version. You want (F7) if you don't already have it.---->

                What are the timings set to on the ram? should be 8-8-8-24
                Check your vcore voltage you can use cpuz or cpuid to get the timings and the cpu voltage

                        I don't know, Is the heatsink seated properly? Can you ad any fans? Is the memory hot to the touch? It's been said that some of them are running in the 70's under full load. I would like to see less temperature on mine.

                          Indeed I hit mid/high-70s with my current OC and TRUE heatsink. At stock I hit 70C Max. My OC is at stock voltages so it's not much hotter than default speeds.

                            When you’re building PC, it is easy to only focus on raw power for your CPU. To keep those powerful components functioning efficiently though, you need the best CPU cooler.

                              Have you tried reseating your heatsink? You have the same heatsink as me, the Thermalright 120, and you are running at stock speeds with a newer stepping processer. Your idle temp should be around 35-40C unless your ambient is really warm. I remember the first time I installed the heatsink, I thought the retention screws were all tight but when I moved the motherboard I realized they weren't. It's worth checking.

                              Page 16 of the article shows temperatures for the Thermalright IFX-14, a larger more capable heatsink. Also, X-bit polished their CPU surface (and voided the warranty) so their temperatures are 4-6C cooler than what we will likely see.

                              What temperatures are you EXPECTING at idle/load?
