I have a question. I just installed windows 7 on a ma790xt-ud4p and in the bios it showed it as 3200 mhz, but yet windows shows it as 1.6 ghz under the system tab. Does this mean my processor is only running at 1.6 ghz? Do I need to flash my bios or do a windows update? Thanks.

Okay turning off CnQ didn't do anything. Turning on performance didn't either. Manually setting speed to x16 did work. However I noticed my voltage was low. Only .97volts on the cpu. Isn't it supposed to be 1.4?

If you have a mobile computer, it may be running a speedstep (or similar processor). This processor slows down when there is light computing load in order to save battery life. The bios setting may be enabled so that the processor speed is variable instead of running at full speed.
Open the System window (windows key + break). Look at the speed. Now close it, open a couple of windows and drag one of them in circles across the screen. Quickly hit windows+break to open the system window. you should see the processor speed go up, because it has been working to move the windows about the screen. Another thing you can try is watching a movie. You should see the processor speed go up also when you look at the graphs in the Task Manager.

Re: Windows 7 shows Phenom II 955 as 1.6 ghz under system tab
Hi MillerSM Sure an easy fix is use AMD power monitor from AMD and right click on the taskbar icon set the Power Scheme to Home/Office Desk Now you can close the program and it will stay at 3200Mhz. If you want to conserve you can open it again and right click on the taskbar icon set the Power Scheme to Portable/Laptop. Or options set power scheme if you got the AMD Power Monitor Window open. This works great for me. Here is the download link:------> http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/dyna...42f&ItemID=105

-----UPDATE-----Above does well for my XP. Windows 7 has a power scheme in it already. Click Start Search Power Options and navigate to Advanced settings change it to High performance settings
