  • EP45T-UD3p Network problems

    Hey guys

First post so take it easy on me ;)

Been lurking these boards for a while and found it to be a great reference site but now I need a little bit of help. Already tried a quick search but nothing showed up.

I just purchased this board (well, basically got it for free thanks to my government) and had it working beautifully for a just over a week, but now I'm having problems with the network ports. Windows can not seem to connect to my network, thus no internet for me :(

I thought it might have been a windows thing, so tried linux, and same thing. In the bios I can do the check there and it says its ok - just the OS doesn't seem to want to connect. Luckily I have a wireless card in my PC so i can access the net that way, but at a price - lots of interference and distance is a slight issue, nevertheless its working for me now...

Has anyone come across this at all?

And i know its not the router because a) i'm accessing it wirelessly, and b) other computers in the house are working.

    Any help is greatley appreciated.

    Regards
    Matt

    Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

Are you using a cable to connect to your router?
    Have you tried another cable?
Is your H/W Lan option still enabled?
In the bios, the Integrated Peripherals Screen has a Smart Lan Diagnostic option, any errors?
Does windows Device Manager show and error icons?

      Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

      Thanks for the reply profJim

I've checked what you suggested, and device manager is not showing any errors. In the bios it seems to succesfully check the connection and tell me the speed its connected at (100Mbps) and the length (15M)

I have tried another cable with no success - I'm thinking its some hardware problem with the port its self.

And sorry I should have mentioned in my OP that I was using a cable - but I can successfully connect to the router on the same PC using my wireless card.

      Cheers

What version of windows are you running?

On my system (w2k), Control Panel --> Network and Dial-up Connections
shows each of my network connections and whether they are Enabled or Disconnected.

          Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

          running vista

But i don't think its a software problem, as when i boot into linux it has problems as well, and won't connect to the network...

Might need to give my supplier a call...

            Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

Update - Removed old drivers and downloaded and installed latest version and this seems to have fixed the problem. Seems weird though that it wasn't working in linux... My only assumption to that is linux didn't have the correct drivers...

Either way, I'm a happy man again :)

I've got the same problem but can't seem to fix. I also uploaded the latest lan drivers and
went from the f8 bios to F9. I also bit the bullet an re-installed Win XP too.
I also changed lan cables and the connection ports on the computer and router.
I can get it for awhile then it just goes away again. ipconfig/release - renew doesn't do it.
I usually have to uninstall the lan in device manager, unplug the router, restart the computer,
then plug in the router. It's working right this minute.
I put in Tech request from Gigabyte and hopefully get help or an RMA.
No other computer on my network has this problem, all can access the internet and each other.

                  Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

Are you using the drivers from the Windows Update site or the Realtek drivers from the Gigabyte site?
Use the Realtek drivers from Gigabyte.
The realtek drivers are also for mobile NIC's.
Go into Device Manager, right click the NIC's, Properties, Power Management tab, uncheck the box "Allow Computer to turn off this device to save Power"

                    Re: EP45T-UD3p Network problems

I think I finally fixed my lan problems. It was a trojan backdoor virus
that was giving me all my problems
                    .
I used the TCP/IP stack repair option for use with Windows XP
                    with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults:
type in: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults:
type in: netsh int ip reset reset.log
                    Reboot the machine.
I also intalled spybot search and destroy and
                    ran a program called: WinsockxpFix.exe
Been running the last few days with no errors.
May finally be able to OC. :)
                    P.S. Also ran HijackThis program.
Hope this helps someone else who runs into this.
                    (bios f9 is for ep45-ud3p)
