  • Basics: RAM install - just 2 sticks

    Reality check needed.

My first build. I have E8400 installed and Xygmatek 1283. Now I am about to install my 2 sticks of Mushkin 2GB RAM. Do I put them into the slots labeled DDR2_1 and DDR2_3 ?

I AM reading the manual and see that there are two channels, divided into consecutive pairs. Also I see the table pg. 10 - if I read it right, I should use slots 1 and 3.

Please confirm - this is all new to me.

ps: just a detail but on my mobo, slots 1 and 3 are both the same color: yellow.

Yes pchaplo, use slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 to get dual mode. That's why they are the same color. And there is no difference which channel you use.

And I guess the easiest way to confirm that you are absolutely in "Dual Channel Mode" is by looking at CPU-Z.

If you are in dual Channel Mode it will say, "Dual" next to, "Channels #" on the Memory Tab.

ClickMe plzzzz ty to DL CPU-Z v1.5
