    Hi guys,

    I need help !!!
    What I am simply trying to do is to run the memory quad-pumped (x4) and FSB@400Mhz but my system won't even boot whereas it is rock-stable with FSB@399Mhz, what is wrong ?

    Here is my system configuration:
    MB: GA-EP45T-extreme
    RAM: 2*2GB DDR OCZ PC14400
    CPU: Q9650

    It seems that it is a kind of chipset FSB hole....any idea ?

    Take a look at the memory speeds, i think the ram isnt running with enough voltage, to verify this :

    Try reducing the system memory multiplier to a lower level, such as 3.0

      You have the known problem with quads at FSB 400MHz.
      Just use 402+ and you'll be ok.

        Take a look at the memory speeds, i think the ram isnt running with enough voltage, to verify this :

        Try reducing the system memory multiplier to a lower level, such as 3.0
        The pb lays between the memory speed and the MCH latch. RAM is certified for 1800 Mhz@1,9v so this should be ok to run it @1600Mhz...
        The whole point is that I want to use the ram at4x speed ; ) (I noticed winrar is then substantially faster then :p)

        You have the known problem with quads at FSB 400MHz.
        Just use 402+ and you'll be ok.
        Thx for the info, should I keep memory latch = 333 then or 400 with FSB@402+ ?

          You can keep spd 333 for fsb 402. If you continue to increase (say up to 410-420) you could hit a wall, so then change to 400.

            It did not do the trick unfortunately, tried 405 and 410 but no boot (I mean it does not even get to the bios) with strap 4.00B (333Mhz strap) or 4.00D (400Mhz strap).
            The only strap that will pass bios boot is 4.00A (200Mhz strap) but then the system is very unstable after a 1 or 2 minutes, weird no ?

              I guess we both have a very similar problem. Me, whit a 1600 DDR3 and the EP-45C DS3-No way above 380 in my case. Nothing to do whit 400.

                So it's time for memory tweaking.
                First set command rate (cmd) = 2 and increase Static tRead value (tRD) to 8-9-10
                Maybe you'll need to change the main timings to 9-9-9-27, but anyway please read your ddr3 specs and see what is suggested at different spd. Since you cannot boot you may need to raise MCH voltage to 1.20V / 1.25V and do try 1.05V as well. Then try to enter all main timings (8-8-8-2x) manually regardless you've got same on auto. Finally if nothing helps try multi 3.20 / 3.33 first B then D and decrease tRD value back to 7-8.
                For me tRD is the single most important value that will determine ddr performance - the main timings and the memory frequency come next, so at the end 3.xx multi may let you work with lower tRD and possibly at 7-7-7-20. The voltage of 1.9V may then be decreased to say 1.75V. You could always check your memory bandwidth with Everest to decide which is better for you - 4.xx or 3.xx multi.

                  You are probably right, I should not focus on 4.00x that much...

                    I was about to suggest the same as comers, tRD may be to low for what you are trying to push using the B strap., Raise it a bit and try again what you tried before, also using more and less Vtt and MCH Voltage
