DS3L boot loop problem

I was referred here from another website saying that there is great support here for Gigabyte boards :)

I have a GA-P35-DS3L paired with an E8400 and 8 GB of OCZ SLI-ready DDR2 800 RAM. I've had this setup for about a year now and its worked flawlessly.

However, yesterday, for whatever reason, the computer decided to instantly power off. I turned it back on, got to windows and it did it again. One more try and it wouldn't turn on again.

What is does now is when I turn it on, the fans and HDDs power up for 2 seconds and then turn off again. It keeps doing this until I unplug the main power from the power supply.

For some reason, I decided to unplug the ATX 12V 4-pin connector that goes to the processor and turn it on again. This time, everything turns on and stays on, except theres no boot (obviously so since there is no processor).

I think this problem has come up before, since I see a lot of posts online about people having this issue. Yet, I can't seem to find a solution. Most of the solutions I find apply to people who have just built a new computer and haven't got it to run at all (Firmware issues and whatnot). However, I've had this thing running very well for a year now. No issues at all. It just decided to do this all of a sudden.

Anybody have this same issue or know how to fix this?

Your bios probably was reset the first time it suddenly powered down. You can probably confirm this by entering the MIT section in the bios. If you see a red error warning box, you're not running with your regular bios settings.

Follow the directions in this post so that we know what hardware you have and your bios settings.

Thank you for the response. I'd love to check that, but there is no boot up whatsoever. No POST, no BIOS. I would imagine its some sort of hardware problem, since the setup has been working for a long time now.

But in regards to the other information...here it is:

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Memory: OCZ Sli-Ready DDR2 800 SDRAM (8 GB)
Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Video: MSI NX8800GT 512 MB Geforce 8800GT
PSU: 500W OCZ

I think that about covers it, but if theres anything else, please let me know.

Try a different power supply.

Try the motherboard and CPU out of the case with nothing else plugged in.

Try different CPU or this CPU in a different MB.

Try just one memory module. Try different memory.

Just fixed the problem a little while ago. One of the 4 memory modules was bad. Good thing OCZ is good with RMAs. :)
