  • GA-EX58-* Post Error Code 6F

The book says this is a floppy controller error, which I do not believe is accurate. Anyone have a better idea? :)

I have seen this a few times, with incompatible memory or memory settings. Or the memory is installed into incorrect slots.

    What ram do you have?

You should have it in the White Slots 1, 3, 5 for triple channel, not the blue slots (Just in case this is the issue)

6 sticks of 1600 ddr3, so all slots are filled.

      It's really bizarre. I have run the memory at 133x12 (1600) @ 7-7-7-16-T1 and at 133x14 (1866) @ 9-9-9-20-T1 and it has passed memtest.

My current settings are 180x8 (1440) @ 7-7-7-18-T1 and it is also stable, and my OC is stable 180x21 (3.8ghz).

The reason I ask about the error code (I had also heard it was memory), is that if I raise my bclk to 190, which would result in a memory freq of 1520, I do not get a post and get the 6F code.

As a matter of fact, running ANY bclk over 180 seems to give me this mobo error code and I can't figure out why. I have loosened timings as far as 10-10-10-32-T1 with trfc of like 86 and still get no post.

I wish I could find out more specifically what this 6f code meant. What I see if I watch it boot is the LCD say: C1 - 68 - 69 - 68 - 6F and it hangs there and won't post. Then when I reset I get the "bad OC" message.

You are not the only one getting this code. I have been trying for the last few weeks to even get a stable or hell even an OC. My system starts up and runs stable at standard 2.66 but when I strat pushing it just hates me. I just have to keep trying.

At the end of the day it is the people you disturbed the most that counts.

6F is usually where it hangs when you have a bad OC, doesnt mean anything with the floppy controller just means you can't boot with your current settings. Try dropping mem multi to 6x and uncore to 12-13x, qpi at 36x, drop cpu multi to 17x then you can find your max bclk, then start raising your cpu multi should be able to get to 19x200 3.8 ghz stable unless you have a really bad cpu. Once you get that stable then raise your memory to x8 multi, and uncore to x16 with timing 9 9 9 24 1 if it's not stable with that you might have bad memory or else a really weak imc on your cpu.

P.S. Set CPU Volts to 1.4 in bios, QPI 1.4 and Dramm 1.68, can play with lowering these later if you are stable.
