  • Does Ep35 ds3 (rev2.1) have EPP for 1066MHz Memory ?

    Hi

im using Gigabyte EP35-DS3 rev2.1 motherboard.
    and i have 2x2gb G.skill pc8500 memories on it...
    (with CPU Pentium D 3.4GHz.(17x200MHz))

But they are running at 800mhz.
i have heard about EPP technology...Activate this and use memories at 1066mhz some says.

is it in İntegrated Peripherals at BİOS as Parallel Port Mode with choices SPD - EPP - ECP - EPP/ECP ?

i have activated this as EPP and set Memory Voltage as 2.1 (1.8+0.3) but still memories are running at 800mhz.

What sholud i do ? Does anyone know ? Help me please.

EPP is not advised, you can use it but it is better to set things yourself so the board does not overvolt anything or use incorrect timings.

You cannot run 1066 ram speed with a 200 FSB Setting, you will HAVE To overclock.

What you need to change is your System Memory Multiplier in the MIT Section, but you will need at least 266 FSB, then use 4.00C Memory multiplier

If you need help with things, and will overclock to 266 or more FSB let me know and I can provide you with full settings to try out. If you would like that please provide me a link to your ram or the model # and tell me the model # of your CPU

      Thank you for information.
But if i overclock fsb to 266 than my cpu will be overclocked to 4.5Ghz and this is not so good to try.Especially while i want to overclock memories to 1200mhz as my motherboard supports 1200mhz with oc.
i need 300 fsb and cou would be 5.1GHz

      Memories : G.skill F2-8500CL6-4GBNQ
(cpuz says -2GBNQ but in offical site it is 4GBNQ)
      CPU : Pentium D 945 - 3.4GHz

        Re: Does Ep35 ds3 (rev2.1) have EPP for 1066MHz Memory ?

All you have to do is lower your CPU multi to 12 and then set FSB to 266 (266x12=3.192). Are you using stock cooler? If so, you may get a little bit warm but maybe not until you hit 3.4 or so? Just have to try it out and see

And yes, actually Pentium D will overclock pretty far if you give it the right voltages. I had a Pentium D 925 not long ago and it would clock pretty far, much farther then I thought. I cannot remember, but I think 3.8 is where I stopped due to ram limitations

Can you give me a link to that official site you mean, I cannot find that ram in Google anywhere but user comments with 2GBNQ or 4GBNQ, nor could I find it at G.Skills site

Here is what you should use for 3.2 with ram at 1066 >>

        Code:

But i knew 17x266 and 12x266 are the same as overclocking cpu.
since i will block 5 multi and use the rest at 266..

          Am i wrong ?

and this is the page :

12x266 is NOT the same as 17x266 by far, what do you mean by what you said there?

And what do you mean about blocking 5 multi? You lost me with that whole post I think

Thanks for the ram link, edited above info

i mean it is something like that : You have 17 horses and 200 kg load for each.total 3400kg ..Blocking 5 horses and loading 12 horse 266 kg is the same as loading all 17 horses with 266 kg...Each horse will be loaded with 266 kg and get tired for 266kg.

Thats what i learned about cpu and cpu multiplier...is it wrong ?

              Anyway...Thank for help..thank very much...
im selling my Penti D cpu and will buy a new Quad core...

              Thanks again.
