  • BSOD tcpip.sys randomly occur on EP35C

    Hello,

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R with 2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 and 4 gigabytes of memory via 2 modules and a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT gfx card.

I have a seemingly random BSOD thats always has tcpip.sys in its screen display. It doesnt seem to be related to any programs that i run as i have tried using different ones to isolate the problem.

I have tried using the driver verifier tool in Windows XP SP3 from safe mode but it doesnt turn up any driver being problematic on boot up.

Is there a known problem with the ep35c that people are aware of?

    Thanks for your time

    Martin

Have you checked in the Event Viewer to see what the exact description of the error message and if there are any known solutions?

    Uninstall Realtek Drivers
    Reboot
    Install new drivers from Realtek
    Reboot
Dont install driver windows update offers.

There is no information about tcpip.sys in the event viewer.
I thought that BSODs wouldnt be able to write to the event viewer anyhow?

The LAN is a realtek 8111B and it doesnt seem to be available from the realtek site. They seem to only have pci card drivers rather than integrated chipset files.

      thank

The driver will work for the integrated chipsets as well. I believe they list PCIE as this is the bus the integrated audio is placed on with most Motherboards.

Do you download a lot, use torrents or limewire type of programs? Did you patch this file in the past for event ID4226 and forget?

Using the latest Intel Chipset package? >>
          Intel Software License Agreement

Have you set performance enhance to standard in the BIOS, added MCH Voltage and set your ram voltage for your 4Gb of ram?

What is the STOP code when you get this BSOD? Looks like 0x000000D1 for example

Here is the latest RealTek Driver for your LAN if you cannot get the above linked RealTek FTP links to work >>

          Version 5.720.0331.2009, whql

            -Yes i do download alot.

I tend to use torrents programs rather than limewire

I did patch the network connections limit However i went back to the old file.
I renamed the prepatch file and deleted the patch one.
I also have done a repair install with xp sp2 and when the BSOD kept occuring afterwards upgraded to SP3. Theoretically i have replaced tcpip.sys 3 times :)

            Performance enhanced=standard
Memory voltage is auto via "system memory Multiplier SPD" = auto
            and also DRAM timing =auto

The bsod code it exactly what you said "0x pile of zeros D1"

I will try the driver you mentioned right now.

            thanks for your time

Tried the driver from station-drivers and i still get a BSOD.

FYI i do get the event notification of too many connections in event viewer so it looks like the patch is gone.

Is there anything further i can do?

or am i stuck with buying a separate network card?

                thanks

maybe the os's tcpip stack is damaged or a bit hosed?
I am trying to remember, there used to be a fix rebuild for that.

                  No malware on board either?

                  Does the error give code?

Have you tried to re-install windows and then see if it happens with zero software installed from scratch? May even be worth using a different windows xp cd incase its a problem with your windows installation..

                    Quick google search finds this

Have you tried a different browser as well?

Actually couple of weeks ago ran into this, had to relaod Vista
                      Well it was quicker anyway.
Couldn't install ANY update lan driver on a machine, even thru device manager or its own installer.
but we did find the properties tab of tcpip 4 and 6 all greyed out. which was odd.
Reloaded the os and all was well.

Re: BSOD tcpip.sys randomly occur on EP35C

I really want to avoid having to reinstall windows as it will take me about a month to get it back to something like it used to with preferences /programs etc.
It did run fine for a few months before this happened so i dont think its my windows cd.

I have used winsockfix to repair tcp.sys

Its happened without me using a web browser.
I have used Firefox 2 and opera anyhow theres no real pattern to this apart from annoying me.

                        thanks

I also have run Mbam and superantispyware in windows 2000 on the xp pro partition to mkae sure nothing is being hidden from KIS2009

                          Still nothing.
