  • GA EX58-UD5 RAM problems not detecting the whole set

Here is my problem, i log into windows today and it only detects 3.3gbs of ram, yesterday was 900mb out of my set of 3x2gb, i've tried running memtest and it locks up, but if i try to run 1 stick by itself then it is good. I have tried every single slot and it passes memtest, but once i put 2 or 3 sticks i get 3.3gbs of ram in any configuration. It is running stock the auto timings of the motherboard. Anybody has any ideas?

    My system is as follows
    GAEX58-UD5
    Core i7 920
    Patriot Viper 1600 3x2gb
    3ware raid controller
    7800GTX

If you're running 32bit XP or vista then thats your problem, you need 64bit to make use of that 6gb

Re: GA EX58-UD5 RAM problems not detecting the whole set

Have you installed your memory in the correct slots?
Have you properly set or checked the DRAM memory voltage?
What operating system are you running? 32 bit operating systems will only "show" 3.2 - 3.4 GB.

Memtest86+ will show the correct amount of ram. Did you try to run it with only 2 memory modules. What amount of ram caused the system to lock up?

Your problem might be related to improper bios settings. Is this a new build or are you upgrading existing memory.

Post back with a link to the specs for your ram. Fill out a bios template with the current settings that you are currently using.

Search the forum for others that are using your mobo and you should find bios settings that work for them.

Re: GA EX58-UD5 RAM problems not detecting the whole set

I am running windows vista 64 bits, i have had the whole amount all the time, and just since couple days ago the amount of ram has been decreasing, memtest does fine with 1 stick, but with 2 or more the program just locks up in 10 secs within the test. I am using F5 final bios and the memory is just not working properly although it has.

My specs are currently stock no OC at all with the ram set at recommended timings of 9-9-9-24 although that is for 1600mhz i have my ram at 1066mhz with those timings, the system can't OC it locks up if i perform a full linx test.
