Reload Saved CMOS After Flash?

I assume that the following is true, after flashing (p35ds3l):

1) The F11 and F12 Save CMOS to Bios and Load CMOS from Bios settings, from the prior BIOS level, will be deleted and no longer available.

2) Even if the prior settings are available, they should not be used.

If my assumptions are correct, is there a way to print the current settings as a reference for re-specification after loading "Optimized Defaults" under the new flash?

I dont see why they wouldnt be available,unless the new bios adds new entries.
Write down or cntrl c the settings using one of the templates on this forum and save in notepad/similar if you think they may not be available after flash and load/save optimum defaults.

Thank you for your reply!

I was hoping to be able to simply print the settings from within the BIOS setup. Unfortunately, cntrl c doesn't work in BIOS setup mode.

Gigabyte has a windows app called Easytune 5, which seems to display most of the overclocking settings in a graphics display window, but also doesn't have a print capability.

I have not updated the BIOS since I set up overclocking about a year and a half ago and I don't know whether my saved settings will survive a new BIOS update. In the mean time, I can't find my notes and don't recall what changes I made.

By the way, where are the templates on this forum? I'm new to this forum, so any help would be most appreciated.

Your saved bios profiles WILL BE "LOST" when you flash your bios and you will have to manually re-create each bios profile after your flashed bios update.

Never use @bios to flash from within windows unless you are willing to risk a bricked mobo.

1) Load Optimized Defaults immediately after your bios flash completes
2) Save Settings and Exit (F10) ==> reboot
3) Re-enter the bios and manually set the desired options
4) Create a new bios profile for settings
5) Save Settings and Exit (F10) ==> reboot

I have multiple bios files saved on my FAT32 partition, in the root folder using the following naming setup:

EP45-mdd.fx where m = month (1, 2,...10, A, B, C), dd = 01, 02,...,31 and x (or xx) = bios version.

I also have EP45UD3P.F6 (my default bios) saved int the root folder on my FAT32 partition. I can reload any saved bios configuration in Q-Flash or by pressing F11 to Load Saved Profiles.

With the saved bioses on my hard drive, this has saved me twice when the mobo bios was corrupted and it "found" my saved bios. Check out the Bios Flashing Guide for more info.

With a UPS powering your computer, this virtually eliminates the possibility of a voltage spike or power outage from bricking your mobo.

Keep DMI Data: ENABLED is the default setup in Q-Flash. I've seen recommendations that this should be changed to DISABLED. I'd like to know the advantages or disadvantages with each option.

**edit** I've used my digital camera with a tripod to capture the bios settings from the computer screen.

Recently I asked LSDME about restoring bios profiles after flashing:

I only suggest using saved profiles within the same BIOS version, so using older ones would not be suggested. All BIOS's are different visible settings and invisible ones so that is why cross version profiles are not suggested. And of course all BIOS's differ in the settings needed for stability, so what you used to use for Vcore for example may need to be changed to more/less with the newer BIOS

To use a Profile you must have it stored on a FAT32 partition if you stored it on your Hard Drive. Or you may store them in a USB Stick, Legacy USB Storage Detect must be enabled. Then on the MAIN Page of the BIOS enter the Load Saved Profiles window (F12) and browse to your Profile

Or you could just write down/notepad the settings you had before and see how they do with your new bios.

You have certainly answered all my questions regarding profile loss after flashing, and avoiding cross version profiles.

Additionally, as per your advice, I've already saved my current BIOS to my root folder with Q-Flash, and I will soon be setting up my tripod with camera...
